Thanks for the link. I still have the switches my older brother had on his layout in the early sixties. They are snap switches in the same style box with brass rails.
He also had one piece of flex track with fiber ties. When we ballasted it, the ties warped, the gauge narrowed, and we had to put nails at the end of the ties to flatten the ties and restore the gauge.
