Troy Rising: A Prequel of Sorts¡

[OOC:? This is just a standalone piece as we wait for folks (if any) to make characters who might want to still play in "Troy Rising", which gives a bit of an explanation from the other side of the multiverse.? Also, if anyone has questions or concerns regarding this storyline, let me know.? I'll try and work with you to get things going.? And now, on with the show.]

In the years to come, what was known as the Troy Incident would join the ranks of such strange phenomenon as as the Tunguska Blast, the Bloop in the South Pacific, the Dancing Plague of 1518, and the SETI ¡°Wow¡± Signal.? The only difference was that it had all the resources of the mid-21st century to bear upon it, though in the end the results and conclusions were just as ambiguous.

What is known is that on April 25th, 2057, all contact with the university town of Troy, AL was lost.? The nearby army base of Fort Rucker reported a flash of light, which sent the garrison on full alert.? They at first believed that a nuclear bomb had gone off in the town, but when there was only a light flash and no shockwave or thermal blast, they went to investigate.

What they found baffled them.? Where once there was a town, a forest stood in its place.? In the middle of a vast field of CHOOH2 stood a dense, untamed woodland the likes you¡¯d see in the Pacific Northwest.? Satellite measurements and cartographers confirmed that it was a perfect circle measuring roughly 20 miles in diameter.

Physicists put forward several ideas.? Some conjectured that a spatial superstring dealt the planet a glancing blow.? Others posited the idea of a primordial black hole swallowing the area.? Wormholes were even considered.? None of these could explain why a forest was there instead of a town, however, and were soon discarded.

None of these came close to the truth, however. ? They failed to¡¯t explain the other findings as well.? For one thing, a crudely built cabin, done in a style remeniscent of medieval Germany, was found to have been partially burned, and then there were the naked remains¡ªa man, a woman, and two boys.? All of them appeared to have been killed with some sort of cutting implement, and the woman showed signs of rape.? None could be identified¡ªeven fingerprints and genetic identification failed to yield anything.

Eventually, all the commotion about Troy died away, and the courts ruled the incident an ¡°act of God¡±, and thus insurance companies were off the hook.? Every now and then, a family member of one of the missing townsfolk would try and have the case re-opened, but more often than not, the request was declined.? Even in those cases where the request was accepted, no headway could be gained, and the matter would once again be dropped.? What had happened was simply so beyond 21st century science that no one ever came close to discovering the truth.

And the truth of the matter was far more bizarre than anyone could¡¯ve guessed.? The Troy Incident you see, was caused by what might be described as a cosmic accident, brought on by the equivalent of the leftovers from an art project.

The Koveveh, a species of 4th dimensional aliens, were obsessed with art and sculpture.? Their medium of choice: ?The fabric of spacetime from multiple universes.? What struck the town of Troy was effectively a ¡°shaving¡± from one of their latest projects.? The unusual nature of that debris swapped a section of Earth¡ªwhere Troy once existed, with a piece of another world. ?

The Koveveh had been warned many times against their dangerous artwork, but they insisted on continuing unabated.? They¡¯d meet their extinction 2.5 billion years later at the hands of the Z¡¯zani¡ªone of the multiple offshoot descendants of humanity that ascended to a state of 4th dimensional existence.

The Z¡¯zani didn¡¯t exterminate the Koveveh out of any sense of vengeance.? They knew nothing about what happened on Earth long ago, or that the Koveveh were even responsible for it.? Indeed, they were unaware that they even evolved on that long forgotten world.

No, the reason was a matter of simple expediency.? After 40 million years of warnings, the Koveveh were destroyed because they continued to pursue their exotic but dangerous form of artwork.
