Re: High Moon Tales. Tales of the Wicked West.

[Sicilien]

Well, there ya have it, Sicilien thought,?I guess there is no issue talking about stuff in front of the sheriff.? Or perhaps the wrinkled fleabag didn't have any interest in their conversation, shambling off to do whatever it is that sheriffs do on nights like this.? The important thing is that they were all safe and in one piece, if not a bit more worse for the wear, .? This whole day was crazy from the get-go and if this was going to continue, which it seemed like it's going to based on what everyone is saying, that they truly needed to take advantage of the time they had to rest, but he had some burning questions that needed to be answered if he was going to cooperate with this troupe.

"What I want to know is what's so special about this...Miller's Crossing...that none of us can get to it," he wondered aloud, looking over everyone as they all settled into their own corners.? "And what this gathering of five is, and why I'm one of them.??? Don't know if any of you already hold familiarity betwixt each other, but I ain't never met any of you before, and I fly solo most of the time."? Making a small 'tch' sound as he scratched his chin with Yuki, Sicilien went back to thoroughly cleaning her muzzle.? His attention turned to Chase who was tending to their mysterious lady friend who seemed to have gotten buffeted the worst out of all of them, having been previously knocked unconscious by that tub of lard who called himself 'Jethro.'? His impromptu partner seemed quite keen on this female seeing as how protective he was over her back at the bar.? He could've sworn he'd seen her somewhere before but not only was she half-hidden by Chase's body, she was also turned away from them.? Maybe he was hallucinating.? After all, it's been who knows how long and at this point it better stay good and buried.? "I'm here for one reason, and one reason only.? Whoever or whatever it is trying to keep me from my bounty there is going to have hell to pay."

"Anyway, that's also going to be a 'no' from me on shacking up at a church.? 'Sides, have you even been in one at night?? Super creepy, I tell you.? I'd half expect to be attacked by a demon than saved by a so-called angel," Sicilien added, scrunching his nose at the mere thought of staying in one of those so called holy buildings.? It was too stuffy, too orderly, too gospel-y and too religious.? Being in one of those places made his skin crawl something unnatural and the one and only time he's actually been inside one, it felt like his feet were walking on pins and needles.? In a very uncharacteristic gesture, he wrapped his arms around him and shivered, shaking his head as if he was trying to throw something off.? Then, as if that didn't happen, he twirled Yuki with one hand and slotted her back into the holster on his right thigh, turning his attention to Amano now.? "No, no, no, no.? No churches."? Keeping silent after that, Sicilien worked on getting the rest of his guns cleaned, re-holstering the other revolved and finishing off the as-of-yet-to-be-named sniper rifle.? Just like the others, he was quite bushed and wasn't as keen on having too long of a conversation.

"Perhaps, we should just sleep on it.? Don't know what tomorrow'll bring, so I think I'mma follow our horse-y friend here," he said, snorting a bit, then leaned the chair backward so that it balanced on just two of its wooden legs, keeping the balance with his heels.? Tipping his hat over his face, he hugged the rifle to his chest and closed his eyes, drifting off into his own la-la land.

(Etienne)

Etienne listened to the conversation go on around her. She had already made up her mind. None of this had anything to do with her. She didn¡¯t know any of these people. She didn¡¯t work for the company they all apparently worked for. Some how she had been sucked into this.?

Yes she knew what she had to do. She just needed to bide her time to do it.?

(Chase)

?Chase would keep an eye on Etienne. ?¡°I will take first watch till sun-up then we are going to have to try to make our way to Miller¡¯s Crossing¡all of us!¡± ?He had something he needed to get from there¡freedom..in whatever form it came.

¡°We talked to one of the creatures vessels in the town we just left.? It stated that the group of five¡he looked around the room would be delayed until its power spread¡after that, there would be no stopping it. ?¡°This¡¡± ?he gestured to the townspeople and the sandstorm is a delay. ?¡°I am not a hero, but I will be damned if I let some faceless entity take over my life or my existence.? We need to keep moving since no one wants to hold up in the church and the chance of surviving without water is slim at best.¡± ?He didn¡¯t trust the woman not to rabbit so he put a chair in front of the door and he sat off to the side with his two side arms and his knife.? He started with cleaning his guns and thinking of some direction to go in that would get them closer to Miller¡¯s Crossing in the morning.

¡®Everyone¡¯s dead!¡¯ ?He repeated it a few times but still, it didn¡¯t make sense.? Knew of magic¡boy did he but he was no shaman¡but that much blood and power¡for?? Just the thought alone made him nervous.? He wasn¡¯t sure they could get her demon-fighting stuff but surely there was something in that bag that might become more helpful to get them in the crossing.? He had silver bullets but they were more for killing him and his kind¡not demons.? He didn¡¯t go to church not cause he was afraid, but because of the number of men he had killed¡he was by no means worthy of church.

(Callie Carson)

? The wind continued to howl outside, sand pelting the building as they heard the sound of growling at the doors and windows to the sheriff's office. The grating noise of sharp talons scraping across the wooden door then filled the room and left them all uneasy.
? ?The sheriff looked at the group and shook his head, "Demons? Magic? You all been smoking peyote or something? I don;t know what's out there but it ain't nothin' like that."
? ?"Oh really?" Callie asked calmly as she sat on the sheriff's desk and loaded her pistol with the special bullets. She looked up and gave a nod toward Flynn, "I suppose it was mass hallucination when we saw my friend there turn into a horse?"
? ?The sheriff started to respond and was cut off by the deep, laughing growl right outside the door, followed by the slamming of heavy fists against the wood. He considered again responding, but decided maybe the girl was right.
? ?Callie turned from Chase to Etienne. She scowled and looked back to Chase, "So what's the deal with the girl? Why you dragging her around and keeping her under such close watch?"
? ??
(Flynn)

Flynn lay stretched out on the bench with his hat over his eyes, drifting in the half-consciousness that exists between wakefulness and sleep, aware of what was being said but feeling like he was hearing it from far, far away.? He was dimly aware of the raging chaos pounding and clawing at the door to the sheriff's office, but largely ignored it. The only thing that mattered at the moment was replenishing his glamour.? Ordinarily, he would have gone to secret spots where free glamour magically gathered, but if this was unknown territory to him and if there were any such spots in the vicinity, they were apparently beyond his ability to sense. ?

He could also ordinarily gather glamour from the imaginations of people, but right now everyone in this drab little town was raging about under some seemingly demonic control. The only one who wasn't was the sheriff who seemed to have all the imagination of a dried horse turd.? Which only left Callie and the others gathered with him in the sheriff's drab and dreary office.? And under the circumstances, it was unlikely that any of them would be indulging in any kind of reverie any time soon.

There was one option left. It would leave him vulnerable for a time, but he didn't see any way around it. Releasing his contact with the conscious world, he let himself go and began constructing a dream, letting his own imagination guide him.? He summoned his memories of his passionate coupling with Callie and began using them to fashion a dreamscape of a naked Callie, but one so huge as to take up the whole horizon, a vast mountain range of womanhood, with curving hills, deep inviting valleys, languid flows of curling brush and briar, and starlight reflected in eye pools the size of lakes.? It was his companion writ large and overpowering, and the pookah lost himself in the wonder of her, his mortal sensuality filling with desire even as his fae self drank in the glamour that was now overflowing from his creation.

OOC Note:? no one actually saw Flynn change into a horse.? He can't change if anyone's staring directly at him.? He could seem human one moment and a horse the next, but no one saw the actual change take place. ?
