Re: Port Vega: Training Room
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý(Chord, Imogene, Ireland)
[Kites] Kites watched as Gen screamed in barely controlled fury and kicked the droid's head clear across the room.? He already knew that when Chord started addressing them all, it was going to be less a motivational speech that it looked like it was going to be.? Kites was extremely frustrated, a feeling that they all equally shared.? Though they tried their hardest, it obviously wasn't enough because they still managed to fail miserably.? However, he didn't expect that they were all going to be scolded like little children because that's exactly what it felt like, or that he was going to be pointing out several of their "extracurricular activities."? That just further added to the shame and embarrassment that he was feeling in that moment.? They were all cold, sweaty, dirty, exhausted and most than likely very hungry as a result, and yet they had to stand there and be told how much they sucked and how awesome Ireland was for saving their skins.? Thanks, Chord, like we didn't already know it ourselves.? Just rub it in some more.? Kites didn't even want to look at Ireland, much less acknowledge her as their new de-facto leader.? He was still quite a bit sore about being told off for not knowing she was power-less, as if she half expected him to be psychic.? At the very least, she seemed to be just as shocked at this revelation as he was. Once the dressing down was done, Chord and co left, leaving everyone standing in shock.? After what seemed like minutes, everyone else who was left began to slowly shuffle out of the training room.? First Brandon, looking quite dejected and demoralized.? Then Kat who seemed to be fine on the outside, but he could tell that she was boiling underneath the surface.? He could sense it in her scent, which was typically gentle but was now quite turbulent, revealing a storm of emotions that she was going through.? As she walked past him, reaching for his arm, Kites returned the gesture, extending a wing to her and gently squeezing her hand.? He then let go as Kat disappeared through the doors.? Mia, well...Kites wasn't exactly sure what Mia was feeling.? She simply turned around and wordlessly walked out.? That just left himself and Gen, and Gen seemed to be hit by this the most.? He watched her for a while, the androgyne just listlessly standing in the muck, wings drooping and caked in mud just as the rest of her and himself were.? He wanted nothing more than to run to her side, give her a hug and tell her that they can just try harder tomorrow, but he knew that even if they weren't there, Chord and co were watching.? The last thing he wanted to do was to give Chord more reasons to think that he and Gen didn't make a good team.? It was conflicting and suddenly it made him very angry. "Come on, Gen.? We're done here.? Let's go get cleaned up," he called out to her, leaving the training room.? It bothered him that he walked out by himself.? It bothered him all the way up to the elevator as he called it down to the floor.? As the doors opened with a woosh and a soft ding, Kites stepped in and punched the button for the living quarters.? He crossed his arms and leaned against the wall, feeling that all too familiar shift in gravity as the elevator started up.? His eyebrows furrowed together as he thought about what Chord said.? As much as he hated to admit, the man was right.? The gauntlet was meant to test them, test their mettle, their ability to cooperate, but what did they do?? Flirt their way up and down the mountain?? What were they here for?? Become a super hero team or indulge in some debauchery?? Of course it was going to look like none of them were taking this seriously.? It didn't help that he himself was totally all Gen in the same space that was taking him up to his room.? His eyes flicked up to the ceiling, wondering just which of these corners held a camera that watched him then and was probably watching him even now. When the elevator reached the floor, Kites stepped out and with a flap of his wings, flew up to the second level of their space and alighted on the rail edge, hopping off, then pressing the panel of his door as it opened to let him inside.? Once the door shut, he leaned his head against the its paneling, breathing out a sigh of relief.? Peace, quietness, privacy.? A sanctuary.? It's something that he hoped he could provide Gen with, hoping that the androgyne wasn't too far behind.? He wanted him, he needed him and he wanted to show him.? It just sucked that he had to hold himself back. "I'm waiting," he whispered against the door, placing both palms against it's coolness.? "I hope you will come." (Gen) It took a lot of Gen's self-control not to take Chord's invitation to just walk away, and the rest to keep her mouth shut until he and Harrison left the training room.? Not surprisingly, the room was dead quiet as the others tried to deal with the dressing-down they'd just received. She did manage to mumble a grudging "Thanks" to Ireland before the redhead left.? It still stung to know that Ireland had witnessed their humiliation, but it did make her feel a little better to know that Ireland had actually acted to help them. Brandon left, looking depressed, though Kat tried to comfort him some and then followed after them.? Mia didn't say anything to anyone, though Gen got the feeling that the water manipulator was annoyed with her personally when she departed. That just left Gen and Kites.? He looked to Gen and beckoned her to come with him to get cleaned up.? "I'll join you in a minute, okay?" When the winged youth had left, the androgyne squatted down and hugged her knees tightly, rocking back and forth on her heels as she brooded over the situation, fighting down one impulse after the other.? She _wanted_ to stay.? It was nice to be around others who, like her, were different from ordinary people.? And she _had_ been having fun up until this. ? Finally she stood up, looking up in the general direction of where she thought the cameras might be.? "Mister Chord, I know I don't know a lot about social interactions and things, but you have to be one of the _worst_ motivational speakers on the planet!" With that, Gen stalked out of the training room with as much indignity as her still-mud-soaked self could manage. (End of thread - everyone has exited) |
