I think it went to Shafton depot when it went to Traction.?

It left Terrier around 2004, around the same time they were receiving the London Traveller B6BLE Sprytes.?

fw: STAGECOACH YORKSHIRE DRIVER, PAUL BILLAM, NAMED IN COVID-19 BIRTHDAY HONOURS LIST

Forwarded for info - well done Paul!

Ian

12 Oct 2020

  • Paul one of only three bus drivers in the country to be named in the birthday honours list
  • Credit given to Paul for his charity work and keeping people¡¯s spirits up during the Covid-19 pandemic
  • Honour comes as Stagecoach marks 40 years of connecting communities this month

Stagecoach Yorkshire driver, Paul Billam, has been recognised in the Queen¡¯s Birthday Honours list.

The Queen¡¯s Birthday Honours list covers individuals, including front-line workers, who have gone above and beyond during the Covid-19 pandemic.

As an avid charity supporter and fundraiser, Paul Billam has helped raise many thousands of pounds over the years for Bluebell Wood Children¡¯s Hospice both inside and outside work. He has instigated many different ways to raise money to support the most vulnerable, such the children of Bluebell Wood and other charities such as the Donkey Sanctuary.

When coronavirus struck the UK, life changed for everybody. Paul wanted to lift the spirits of others and was always thinking of how he could help others first. He decided he wanted to make life a little more fun for many of the children in the local area who were now stuck at home.

Paul had previously used fancy dress to make people smile, for example dressing up as Santa whilst driving his bus over the Christmas period. During the lockdown period, he decided to dress up as different characters, including Spiderman and Mario Brothers characters, and surprise friends and colleagues¡¯ children with visits and sweet treats to make them smile and their days a little brighter. As time went on, the number of surprise visits increased and extended to families in his local neighbourhood where sweet treats would be left on the doorstep and families would wave and smile through the window, brightening up sometimes dark days.

Paul has always been steeped in local community and through his role as bus driver, has built up a strong rapport with his regulars on the 218 service. So when coronavirus changed everybody¡¯s daily lives, Paul didn¡¯t forget about his regular customers who were often some of the most vulnerable people. He would ask them to give him a thumbs up or a thumbs down as he passed their gates each day and to shout to him if they needed anything as he passed. He supported many of his customers not just by driving them where they needed to go but with supplies and a sense of humour through very difficult times.

Paul Billam said: ¡°I was so surprised to receive this honour ¨C I feel really proud to be one of only a few bus drivers in the country to get such a prestigious award. I love my job as a driver and it¡¯s helped me to stay so connected with people in our local community. Lockdown was hard for so many people and I just wanted to make it better, particularly for those people who had to self-isolate. The kids loved to see me dressed up as Spiderman and other fun characters and the older people would come out to their gates to give me a wave as I drove past ¨C it put a smile on my face as well!¡±

Sue Hayes, Operations Director of Stagecoach Yorkshire said: ¡°We are all so proud of Paul for what is an amazing commendation. As Stagecoach marks 40 years of serving communities right across the UK, we know the great job our staff do day in day out to make sure people can stay connected with the places and people they care about the most.

¡°It¡¯s really heart-warming to hear stories such as this, and to know what a valuable difference Paul has made to the daily lives of so many people in our community. Paul¡¯s selfless attitude and actions are a real inspiration to others.¡±

On Tuesday the next phase of the SuperTram Rail Replacement work commenced.? The previous BL2 service between Sheffield City Centre was withdrawn, and the new BL3 service between Birley Lane and Halfway introduced.

The BL3 requires 3 buses, as opposed to the BL2's requirement of 6.

As such, 3 of the on loan ex Lothian B7TL/Geminis have transferred from Holbrook to Ecclesfield depot to work recently introduced schools extra services 701 (x2 buses) and 708 which are only open to school children not the general public, the vehicles moving over being 20798-800 (SN56 AEY/EZ/FA).? They should not appear on general service work!

Going the other way, E400s 19032/3 (SN56 AVY/Z) have gone on loan from Ecclesfield to Holbrook to provide additional capacity on public services.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 05/09

Hi all

Joining the fleet at Holbrook this weekend are 7x Volvo B7TL/Wright Geminis registered SN56 AEU/V/W/X/Y/Z/FA latterly from the East Coast Buses/Lothian fleet (as their 20794-800).

They are coming on loan to Stagecoach to work the remainder of the Supertram Rail Replacement contract as the 7 MagicBuses currently on loan to Holbrook are required back in Manchester.

Once their loan to Stagecoach has finished I gather they are to be sold to another operator by Lothian and won't return there.

Also at Holbrook, Dart/Pointer 36252 which had latterly been used to provide additional staff rest facilities in the depot yard is now back in passenger use.

Wooley Edge Megabuses

Anyone wanting to spot some Megabuses, then the Megabus base at Wooley Edge Services (southbound) is the place to go.

Currently parked up waiting to take up schools work in Greater Manchester on Monday are Interdecks 54216-21 and 54263-68, plus Levantes 59222/3/4/5/6/8.

Repaints this week in to the new Stagecoach livery are:

Ecclesfield depot Scania/E400 15694 (YN60 ADX)

Holbrook depot E200MMC 37603 (YX69 NWV)

Stagecoach Yorkshire 01/09

Hi all

A quick update on the below:

Solo 47318 was just stopping over in the North East en route to Stagecoach Highlands. Sisters 47319/20 are due to make the trip North shortly too.

Holbrook E200MMC 37603 (YX69 NWV) is the latest recipient of the new Stagecoach livery.

And finally... whilst this isn't directly related to Stagecoach Yorkshire it does relate to Stagecoach and Yorkshire... around 12 Megabus coaches are being assembled at Wooley Edge Services over the next few days. From Monday these vehicles, crewed by Megabus drivers based at Wooley Edge will be covering additional schools work in the Transport for Greater Manchester area. No, its not 1st April and no, I've (sadly) not been drinking...

Several Dart/Pointers have returned to use here, though are still regarded as part of the 'reserve' pool:
35109/11 and 35232/33 at Ecclesfield
35229/31 at Barnsley
35234 at Holbrook
35116/230 at Chesterfield

In addition 35262 is used to provide additional canteen facilities at Holbrook depot.

Only 2 of the 4 Scania/E400s expected at Barnsley from Stagecoach Merseyside have arrived - 15589/92 have done, swapped with 15610/11. 15534 and 15609 required attention before they are swapped for 15590/91. The 3 ex Oxford Golds at Chesterfield depot (15434/6/7) are also due to be swapped for standard Scania/E400s from Merseyside.

Leaving the fleet is Optare Solo 47318 (YN06 UGP) which has gone back to Stagecoach North East.

Scania/E300 28674 (YN62 FVV) lost it's 'Doncaster Bus Partnership' allover wrap in early August (I kept forgetting to report it!) and thus is now back in the old Stagecoach livery.

Re: Stagecoach Yorkshire - forthcoming allocation changes

Hi all

To add to the below - since this list was complied a number of additional schools services have been awarded at short notice (412B, 420B, 421, 428 (2 buses), 457, 459 and 495 at Barnsley depot, 701 (2 buses) and 784 at Ecclesfield, and 708 at Holbrook) - times on the SYPTE website if you want them.

This means there's going to be some further changes over the weekend, with the bulk of the MAN/E300s that had been put in reserve pulled back out and even some Dart/Pointers re-activated.

Further details to follow next week.

One 'quirk' of the service changes from the beginning of September is the movement of the majority of vehicle workings on services 93/95 (Barnsley - Wooley/Kexborough) to Rawmarsh depot.? During the daytime, 4 of the 6 hourly journeys on the 93/5 will be worked by Rawmarsh (interworked off the 226 and 22X), with Barnsley providing 2 vehicle workings per hour.
