Most people who have not died by 2000 are closed. Any that are open are exceptions. Normally you can only request a person be open if you can prove that they are deceased, but as I have found there are many exceptions, why? Trust this helps. On 19/10/2023 05:09, Derek Whitwam wrote:

开云体育Hi Derek,Your name is officially closed due to the 100 year privacy act.? Anyone who was born before 100 years ago their name has been opened in the Register.? As you are still alive, your name and information is closed.? People who are less than 100 years old but deceased their names are opened as well. Hope this helps Wendy Bloomfield On 19/10/2023 12:09 pm, Derek Whitwam

Re: 1939 Register
Hi It means that the date of birth is less than 100 years ago, and that no matching death record has been found.? ?There are instructions here to view your own record, and those of anyone you can prove is deceased.? The whole article is worth reading to learn more about the?Register.? Ruth On Thu, 19 Oct 2023 at 10:06, Derek Whitwam <atired.92@...> wrote: Hi . Re: GORLEY
开云体育Hi Maureen,
I found an 1851 England census listing three sons that were born in Leeds before the children you mentioned.? They are:
William, b. ~1845
Joseph b. ~1847
Henry b. ~1849
In 1860, they are living in Paterson, New Jersey, USA, additional children, John, Mary and James.?
I found the FindAGrave memorial for James. I will try to find the rest of the family and link them.
I see border crossings from Canada to the U.S. starting with 1895.? Since James was born in Canada, is it possible that he went there first, then came down to New Jersey?? Border crossings between Canada and the U.S. may not have been strict
at that time.??
Hopefully this helps.??

The first thing to remember is that none of the records that we all use on a day to day basis were ever created with family history in mind. In the UK passenger lists were maintained by the Board of Trade and they decided many years ago that they didn't need to keep any passenger lists prior to 1890 so finding any record prior to then is more likely in newspapers or on the immigration lists where they went. If you are researching in newspapers then don't restrict yourself to the time period you think - I have seen reports from sons of early pioneers who came back 70 years later to visit the homeland of the fathers If you are using FamilySearch these days then don’t rely on the catalogue as many of the newer sets are image only. I have found passenger list into New Zealand for the period you are looking at that are there but not indexed yet. So, start you research into immigration here Regards John Hanson FSG Researching the Halstead/Holstead/Alstead names Researcher, the Halsted Trust - Research website - And my own study of FOSKER -----Original Message-----

Then the next I have is they had James b. 10 Nov. 1822 in Quebec Sarah b. 29 July 1824 in Quebec Maria b. 28 March 1828 in Quebec They then must have come back to UK as they were all baptised in Bingley in 1929. Anyone looking for Thos. Saulsbury WRIGHT b 1843
Morning All. A friend was recently on Norfolk Island off the east coast of Australia and stumbled across a headstone in a cemetery for:-
Thos Saulsbury WRIGHT. Native of Frodingham, Yorkshire Who died 7 Feb 1843 aged 105 Knowing my connection to Yorkshire she took a photo of it. I have WRIGHTs from Yorkshire but sadly he's not one of mine. After a quick Google search it would seem more likely that he was from North Frodingham as the "other" Frodingham is in Lincolnshire. If he belongs to anyone I can send the photo on to you. ttfn Trish ex Hull lass on central coast of NSW. |

Re: Bradford Burials 1812

Some of the other entries around that time are of the form "Joan SMITH of Horton Widow", so it seems likely that William was still alive. I noticed that the BT (at FindMyPast) has Betty's surname spelled HAIGH, so if you're looking for William's burial, it would be a good idea to use that spelling too.

There was a William?HAIGH aged 78 buried in Bradford in 1818, and one aged 27 in 1822 who may have been too young, but plenty more (HAIGH or HAGUE) a bit further away, especially in the Huddersfield area. Arthur On 26/09/2023 09:45, Maureen Farrer wrote:
I have found a Betty HAGUE buried in the Bradford Cathedral in March 1812. It says wife of William HAGUE (I think it says Sawyer for his occupation). What I would like to know, does that mean William was still alive then as it didnt say widow ? |

There was no general rule as to the age a witness was required to be, I have seen as young as 12 or 14 acting as a witness
