The London Gazette, 14 July 1801 (Issue 15386, page 865) "Prisoners in the Gaol of the Chief Bailiff of the Liberty and Franchise of RICHMOND and RICHMONDSHIRE, in the North Riding of the County of York First Notice Nathan CANSICK, formerly of Dalton-on-Tees, and late of Barningham, in the North Riding of Yorkshire, Wood-Cutter" The second notice was in the paper in the 18 July; and the third on the 21st. All 3 notices had identical wording except for the words - first, second and third. Questions: What had be (allegedly) been up to? What do the 1st, 2nd and 3rd notice mean? I have looked at the newspapers on FMP but can't find anything other than a repeat of these notices in other papers. I've also looked at the Quarter Session Records for Yorkshire on Ancestry. Any ideas? Thank you, Rosemary |
