Re: Driver surfaces ? Brass or NS ?
Mark, It occurs to me you may have a bad HH motor if the problem is not traction related. Do I correctly understand its a traction problem? We may be able to quantify your problem: An interesting

Yes, well said from the camp of some of us "Historic Entities" (HE's, as in "he said"...)! For me, some of the modern approaches to modeling and _operating _the models just made sense. I have adopted

Re: A question about brass or nickle silver drivers
Opinion: If the brass tires are kept nice and clean, it should not make any difference. That said, I have no experience in that to share. I'm pretty sure the Bowser drivers are plated with a "silvery

Re: Driver surfaces ? Brass or NS ?
I'll throw out some opinions and observations here, some of which may not be popular. I think brass wheels on steel rail get the best traction. I don't use either because of oxidation (AKA rust).

John, one of the guys in my earlier posts responded with a product he recommends called Flitz, which I just order last night on Amazon. My drivers on my H9 are brass(probably worn down to the

Re: Driver surfaces ? Brass or NS ?
Well I can't say much about brass vs NS but I can speak from experience about the difference between sintered metal and NS. By actual comparison NS has comparatively poor adhesion on NS track. My

No, Jeff I'm not saying that I object to the slow operation of a Helix Humper motor with a DCC decoder. What I am trying to do is ask for helpful advice from people that may have already experienced

Driver surfaces ? Brass or NS ?
Batter up group ! There's been a LOT of discussion about whether or not there is a great deal of difference in materials , BTW Bowser had both surfaces [?] the majority of my collection is brass .

Mark, Are you saying you object to the slow operation of the Bowsers with DCC decoders and/or Helix Humpers? One of the intentional characteristics of the HH conversion is the slowing of the overall

Pantagraphs definately look like Famoco. Their engines usually had brass frames, very stout and very well made. That would be my take. Jim Waterman

A question about brass or nickle silver drivers
Does it make a difference in DCC if the drivers are brass or nickle silver(I think they're nickle silver)? These are Bowser drivers.
