Roland Orzabal occasionally plays along with Ian on the synth riff but Roland also has different rhythms and two leads along with the opening riff. If anyone plays along with or imitate something , it is the guitar behind the Synth chords. From all the videos old and new Ian or Curt Smith are playing the bass part on keys.?
