70Mhz
Hi everyone,
I have owned my FT847 for a very long time, maybe 20 years. It is a UK version that has usually worked on 70Mhz, but has stopped putting any power out recently. The radio goes into TX on 4m, but does not put any power out (measured on a Bird meter so there may be mW.). The radio has the L5006 mod from??and worked fine for 10 years or more. The radio works fine on 50MHz so I know the PA stages are not kaput. I have done a factory reset several times and do not know what to look at next. Can anyone give me any clues? Thanks Steve, M0BPQ |

Looking for Replacement Sub Tune Encoder
Will
So I sold my FT-847 to help fund a IC-9700.? The ham who purchased it wanted to return it because he said the AM on the low bands had no carrier when the radio was keyed.? So I took it back as I was trying to be a nice guy and refunded his money.? Radio came back and the SUB TUNE knob was broken off and the face plate cracked.? Repaired the face plate (cant even tell that it was broken) and fixed the encoded shaft but the encoded internally is damaged.? Any one know where to get a replacement SUB TUNE encoder or do I now have to scrap it for parts??? Thanks,? Will - N7IPY

Re: CAT CONTROL Software???
开云体育Gary ? Early model 847’s did not have bidirectional CAT control by design from yaesu and therefore could not communicate with CAT software.? YAESU realized this issue and later model 847’s were provided with bidirectional CAT and yaesu offered a mod upgrade for free (at the time).? If you have bidirectional CAT, all you need for connectivity is a null modem serial cable from your computer to the radio.? You will need a usb to serial adapter if your computer does not have native serial ports.? When buying this adapter make sure that it is not one of the cheap Chinese made which will not work.? Once you have all this, any CAT control software will allow you to connect with the radio and control the radio. ? Hope this helps. ? Joe VA3JLF ? ? Sent from for Windows 10 ? From: Gary Gadwa

Re: CAT CONTROL Software???
I use the RT Systems programming cable (Windows 10) which also works for CAT control using SatPC32. You have to set Menu #37 to 9600 bps for SatPC32 to work. You have to reset Menu #37 to 19200bps ( I think it was) for the programming software to work. For rotor control (Az only) I use PST Rotator on an old XP computer.

开云体育I use my FT-847 for satellite exclusively.? I use CAT control for automatic doppler shift frequency control.? I use PSTRotator software for that and Omni-Rig software as well. ? Joe? KE9AJ ? Sent from for Windows 10 ? From: Gary Gadwa

CAT CONTROL Software???
Who is using CAT CONTROL and what is the best software for controlling the FT-847? I am about to delve into CAT CONTROL of my FT-847...I have had this rig for many years but never have pursued SOFTWARE to control it.
Thus, I am wide open to what the best way to go is. HELP appreciated. Rather than just use a standard Null? SERIAL Cable, I did order the RT Systems cable. GARY W7FSI |
Re: Null cable
There is a mod somewhere I saw that you can change the comm port but the $3.00 adapter is a cheaper easier option. Sandor KG4FET? KAG! Promises made, Promises kept On Mon, Jun 29, 2020, 1:11 PM Jaye Sauer <jmsbus@...> wrote:

Re: Null cable
开云体育Good morning? ? ? ? ? ?I found out why I couldn’t get commander or hrd to work on my 847. I purchased an early model and it didn’t allow two way cat control. They apparently did offer a firmware upgrade that I didn’t find out about until now. I have reached out to Yaesu to see if I can do the firmware myself or if they still do it. Null cable
I see several suggestions to buy the RT Systems cable at 30.00.? I also see null cables for between 20.00 and 50.00 but I found an adapter for 3.00.? I had several FTDI cables so I couldn't see spending that extra money.? Fleabay has null cable adapters for 3.00 with free shipping. They are plainly marked on the cases NULL so they don't get mixed up with your gender changers for your Kenwood radios.

Re: Commander from dx suites
Gerald,? DxLab's can control the freq, volume, and a couple other things and that's about it.? If you do some digging there is a free version of HRD (v5.24) floating around that WILL do SAT Mode and just about everything else. Sandor KG4FET? KAG! Re: Commander from dx suites
Hi Sandor, I received the port adapter and also the cable from the vendor of the radio, who reports he had it working before he mailed it to me. I believe, since it was functional, it must be a null modem cable. Thanks Brent Taylor, VY2HF / W1PJ Stratford, PE On Sun., Jun. 28, 2020, 14:37 Sandor Wetsel, <kg4fet@...> wrote:

开云体育Brent If you go RTSystems, they have a USB to Serial as a null modem. It costs USD$30. That what I am using on my 847. You can also get the programming software from them as well. Enjoy Douglas Richards VE3FFR
