Wakefield News Subgroup idea

Thank you for writing to us and proposing your idea for a subgroup. I appreciate that you are trying to find ways to foster non-local discussions. There are a couple of reasons why a subgroup would not be ideal. Tim and I would be owners of that subgroup, which is not ideal for that group. Membership would still rely on the rules we set. It would be far better to have a separate group owned and managed by people who wish to set their own guidelines and manage the group accordingly. We would very happily link to that group both when it is getting set up and when there are posts or events the group would like to highlight. There had been a post and offer to help set up a separate group a while back, written by John Kingsley. He would be able to help set up a new group that would function in a way that would work for the members of that group. We highly recommend approaching him to see if the offer still stands. And once/if it¡¯s set up, we will help promote it. Thanks again for writing! See you soon, over that coffee you had suggested! I'm grateful for the time, energy and thoughtful consideration you both put into moderating the Wakefield News. For myself and others, there is a strong desire to share information and ideas that extends beyond our geographical boundaries but nonetheless affects us. To that end, might you be open to considering this sub group feature within groups.io platform for those in our community who do want to share and receive information of a more global nature? /helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/using-subgroups/overview If WFN would consider allowing this Sub Group (provisionally called The-Bridge) that would allow any community member to join either or both newsletters (WFN & The-Bridge). This way we can connect members of the community and inform them while allowing people individual choice. If WFN would agree to this then a few Bridge members would volunteer to moderate The-Bridge Sub Group. I sincerely hope that you will see this an acceptable option for us to put forward together for our community. I look forward to your response. ??? Sub Group idea is dead
Linda has a reply from Tamara - WFN does not want a Sub Group - suggests that people could start their own platform. I'm trying to decide if it is worth the trouble - if this community has spoken clearly or if it is just a few people at WFN who do not want a forum for free speech. Let me know what you want to do with this news - set up a new group or not? I will forward the last email in Linda's thread to this group...Rob

Touching base
Hola banditos, Enjoy the lovely sunshine! I haven't seen if there has been any blow back on Hills4Palestine posting things on WFN - any news there? I am part of that organizing group and I'm curiuos how they will post for the upcoming event April 3 with a poster (attached) that even uses the word genocide - while I and others have been banished. I support the poster and the event -but this surely makes a farce out of the arbitrary censorship against "the spread of antisemitic hatred" Please forward me issues of WFN from Mar. 23 - 26 and onward for a bit - I'd like to track any feedback. I am waiting patiently for Linda to meet and to give feedback but I would update her with information about these posts and the reaction/non-reaction to them. ...El bandito

Linda Vanderlee is reaching out tro WFN
Hi guys - I know I know - Hurry up & wait - but Linda is going to meet individually with Tamara and Tim to float the idea of a Sub Group She has to find mutually agreeable times for this and wants to do it face to face over coffee - I think that is a good approach but we have to wait to hear any response (looks like start of April) If either of the moderators baulks then I think we have a NO reply and can move forward separately - if they both say YES that would be best

I enjoy the writing of the Canadian blogger, Dave Pollard. He writes on politics, social issues, and the environment, as well as on radical non-duality/free will, and a variety of other topics. His regular "links of the month" posts can lead one to many interesting things. Enjoy, Paola https://howtosavetheworld.ca/2024/03/16/links-of-the-month-march-2024/

The approach for a Sub Group
Hola Banditos! Good news! Since we all were in agreemnet with the general idea of a sub group I have written to Linda Vanderlee to ask her to propose the sub group idea to Tim and Tamara. She is happy to do this outreach! She will try to meet with each of them one on one to see if they are willing to host teh sub group on WFN. If so we move ahead - if not we move ahead. Let's see what tramspires...Rob

Another great siggestion form Paola - the Code of Conduct wording
6
Code of Conduct Only civil contributions will be published. Be nice. No personal attacks, name calling, abusive language or hate speech. Moderators¡¯ Role Moderators will screen all posts, responses and reports to ensure they meet the Code of Conduct and the Tech Platform Standards. Posts ruled unacceptable will not be published. Moderators may preempt overly lengthy debates if members do not proactively move to private communication. If a member reports a concern with a post, moderators will resolve the issue by revisiting that post, communicating with the poster and reporter, occasionally communicating with the entire membership, and possibly removing the offending post or requiring alterations to it. Tech Platform¡¯s Standards To use the group.io tech platform , members and moderators of The-Bridge must respect their standards, even if we may not agree with all of them. The standards are: no pornography, nudity or adult content: no harassment; no copyright violations; no extreme or hateful content; no conspiracy theories; no anti-vaccination ideologies; no advertising ; no sharing of GIFs, stationary, tags, graphics or such. Guideline for Posting Be respectful! Use a clear, descriptive title for your posts and try to be brief (100 words or less). If you have more to say, consider including an attachment or linking to a blog, websites or other media. Avoid links to sources if you suspect their accuracy or credibility. If overly lengthy debates arise, please move your conversation to private messaging. Members¡¯ Tools Members can ignore or mute posts which do not interest them. The tech platform allows muting, and instructions on how to mute a post and any ensuing replies will be made available. Members can report posts to the moderators if they feel that what has been published fails to adhere to the Code of Conduct or Tech Platform Standards. Reports should clearly identify what portion of a post is considered objectionable, and why.

If a Sub Group appeal fails
Hola Banditos! I hope we can get WFN to agree to a Sub Group (more thougts on that later) But consider thay flat out reject us - then we set up The-Bridge outside - and we have more evidence of their non-cooperative/arbitary censorship of the community Maybe then we could write that letter of protest exposing their unjustified censorship (I know Sean & Vagner that you'd like to tell it like it is and so do I!) We could tell that story on The-Bridge, blogs, Wakefield Folks on F/B and in The Low Down (by letter/ Valley Voices, a small ad) I think it is startegic to wait and get a Yes or No from them - that will gide our actions
