Re: Wakefield News Subgroup idea
Well that's really unfortunate! A subgroup was an elegant and easy solution. Where to from here? Like Edythe, I will happily subscribe, but I have too much on my plate, and not enough technical skills, to want to play a major role in setting it up or running it.? Given that "The Hills for peace and Justice" material and Vagner's latest link to his blog were published on the WFN, we should be able to flag subgroup content on the WFN if it's more than just a link. ie if it relates to a local event, or is written by one of us. But then only content we actively generate would make it to folks outside the subgroup.....No good solution!!? Those willing to take on a major role in this should be making the decisions about what/how/when. |

Re: Could someone post this link to WFN?
That's too bad Paola. awareness raising about racism is local.?You were put on moderation earlier, but at least the Admins informed you about it, and 'excused' you, saying you were new to the list.? Your subscription will be back on moderation again now I think, without the courtesy of them informing you . . .?or maybe you were never taken off.? Either way, if so, its strike two for you, and you will be banned if you step out of line again.?? It's miserable of the Admins to not communicate to a subscriber when their status on the list changes, giving the reason why.? But for them, it's easy when done behind the scenes.? It might cause them some fuss if their decisions were transparent, drawing in other subscribers who might object.?They remind me a bit of Joe Biden (in his devotion to Israel), in their devotion to their understanding of the original vision for the WF News as Phil Cohen set it up many years ago.? Yet, the written rules for the list are so vague as to be useless to anyone subscribed to it today.? ? edythe

Re: Wakefield News Subgroup idea
I am disappointed, too, that the Wakefield community so readily acquiesced to censorship and the banning that followed.?? And, you are right about the 'high recommendation' Tamara gives - to approach John Kingsley for advice and help, it's not a good fit. edythe

Re: Wakefield News Subgroup idea
Hi Rob,? The admins have no wish to even respond to a face to face meeting with Linda, let alone expand the newsletter to a subgroup of troublemakers, unruly people wanting to discuss global issues!??It is too bad, I agree, but off the top of my head in this moment, I say forget about the WF News.? They can continue to run their newsletter as they want.? I missed it a tiny bit at first, I think mostly because it was a habit to see it every day. But now I don't miss it at all.? I would not even link to it in the way Tamara offers . . . "We would very happily link to that group both when it is getting set up and when there are posts or events the group would like to highlight" . . . I do not see them posting anything in future that they won't allow as a post today,?but that may just be spiteful thinking on my part. Setting up a new group will be a lot of work, notwithstanding all the work you have put in to now, Rob.? So, the decision will be yours, and others.? I would subscribe though :) bye for now, edythe

Sub Group idea is dead
Linda has a reply from Tamara - WFN does not want?a Sub Group - suggests?that people?could start their own platform. I'm trying to decide if it is worth the trouble - if this community has spoken clearly or if it is just a few people?at?WFN who do not want a forum for free speech. Let me know what?you want to do with this news - set up a new group or not? I will forward?the last email?in Linda's thread to this group...Rob |
