I'm a new member to this group (having been on the Devon group for many a year), and find myself now in the Middle Ages of Cheshire - Aldford and environs, and at Holt Castle, Holt, Denbighshire.? I learned today that an Alford married a Puleston, which is commemorated on a tablet in St. Chad's, Holt.? An excerpt of this tablet says:? "at the east end of the north aisle in Farndon Church, which is upon the Cheshire bank of the Dee, immediately opposite Holt, records a marriage of Pulestone with Alford, and bears the arms of Alford of Holt: Six pears with a chief."? This remark gives no year or first names. Does anyone have a knowledge of this or of Alfords/Aldfords/Bigots???
