Re: Cemetery in Aberystruth?

Hi Roger,

You could try the burial ground at New Bethel Chapel. That was certainly used by individuals in that area in the late 1800s, but I¡¯m not sure exactly when the chapel was built. Someone else in the group might be able to help with that info...?

Hi

I have an individual, Leonard BOUCHER. His first name is variously recorded as Lenet or Lennet or Leonard.

He died in 1856 at the age of 24 (England & Wales Deaths 1837-2007 Q4 11a 43, as Lenet).

He was buried 15 December 1856 in Aberystruth, Monmouthshire (Monmouthshire Burials P. 289, as Lennet).

The problem is, I cannot find a burial place in Aberystruth. The cemetery at Nantyglo and Blaina didn't open until about 1885, so I assume there must be a burial ground associated with a church or chapel in or close to Aberystruth, but the internet is pretending not to know of one. Does anyone with local knowledge have any idea on possibilities for this?

Thanks
