JONES of Pentre Denbighshire

Hello everyone : )

My ancestor was OWEN JONES of 'PENTRE DENBIGHSHIRE' (according to the 1861 census).? He has always been a bit of a mystery to me.? He was born about 1830-1835 and he married a widow named Jane (nee Lockett) Johnson in Shelton Staffordshire in 1856.? From the marriage record I could see that his father was named Robert Jones.? They had two children together: my ancestor Mary in 1858 and her brother Robert in 1860.? In 1861 they were living at Burslem where he recorded his place of birth as 'Pentre Denbighshire'.? He was a coal miner and Jane was a potter.? Earlier in 1851 he may have been a visitor recorded in Shelton with another visitor named Edward Jones.

After 1861 Owen vanishes.? Janes older children born to her first husband are living with their Grandparents so I presume that Jane perhaps passed away.? My ancestor Mary turns up next marrying William Boardman in Lancashire in the 1870s and I have no idea where she was before then.? The family had always referred to her as being Welsh, so I wondered if perhaps she went to Wales with her father but I can't find any evidence of this.? Perhaps the reference just came from having a Welsh father and her English mother might have died when she was very young.? I can't find a matching burial for Jane frustratingly.

I have all the information I need on Mary and her family in Lancashire, the mystery I would love to discover is what happened to Owen and Jane after 1861....and where did Owen come from (who were his family, what part of Wales exactly was he born in etc.)? Unfortunately if it was him recorded as a visitor in 1851 that means I can't search for him in Wales that year...but perhaps his father Robert is still in Wales at that time.? I've tried hunting around before but it's a challenging search with so many places called Pentre and so many Jones's!

Thanks,
Tamara
