Winlink on Apple devices
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý? Hello, I was working on getting Winlink to work with my Apple devices. ?As ¡°one of those people¡± who does not have any Windows or Android devices, I was hoping to find a way to do Winlink and potentially some of the other digital things from my iPad or iPhone. I came across a program that runs on iPad or iPhone and handles Winlink. ?It can send messages easily with Telnet (over Wi-Fi/cellular). ?It can pair with packet KISS TNC radios and modems via Bluetooth or VARA modems via Wi-Fi. ?I will put below the item I am using and the links to what I bought to make it work. I am using an iPad with a USB-C connection. I have tested this on both a Tidradio H8 and a Yaesu FT-70D. ?Here is what I used to link it all together:
For me, I am using the HT to do Winlink on 2m. This app does support the other bands; you just need to find the interface for the radio that works for you. The app does have a one-time upfront cost of, I think, $15. The app is kept updated, the features seem to be in-depth, and the developer and community are very responsive. For me, I found it worth the cost. ?I was happy to support this developer because it is an app that is modern and saved me from getting a laptop to haul around. ? This app also does support the Winlink Forms, and I found it easy to fill out and read them. ?As I am not familiar with exactly how the Windows ones work, I cannot speak to if it¡¯s worse/same/better. ?It does feel very good to me though. ?The forms do have a yearly $10 cost. ?Again, I don¡¯t mind that as it supports the developer, and he keeps it updated with new forms as they are added. If you have questions or want to know more on this, I am happy to share what knowledge I can. I am still learning as I go. KJ7KAO -David |

CHD Winter Preparedness tomorrow
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýGood evening, everyone ??????????????? Sounds like we have 2 or 3 volunteers (Cathy, Mike R. and David) for tomorrow. It starts at 3pm and runs until 6pm over at the CHD building here in La Grande. I¡¯m going to meet up with Cathy tomorrow with all the fliers we can hand out. If anyone else would like to join them, please do! ??????????????? These things are usually easy. You just need to be willing to talk to people about ham radio. The one thing we really want to do is get names, phone numbers and email addresses of people that stop by. If they are not willing to give us that info, not a big deal. If that happens then try to keep track of the number of people that stop by to visit. While this is going on, I should be able to take call if there are any questions. ? Re: GRRAA Christmas Food List Sign-Up
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
Thanks, everyone, for all you did to make our Christmas lunch such a great club party on Saturday.??
Here is the cheese bread recipe that a couple people requested.??
Pull Apart Cheese Rolls
Makes 48
Rolls:?(Can substitute Rhodes frozen dough or premade pizza dough)
3 TB yeast
1 ? cups warm milk
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 ? tsp. salt
3 eggs
6 cups flour
Dissolve yeast in warm milk.?
Mix sugar, butter, salt & eggs in a mixer.?
Then add milk & yeast and mix.
Work in flour & knead 8-10 minutes.?
Cover with towel and let rise in bowl 2 hours.? I put this in the oven that has been slightly warmed with the heat turned off.
?
Punch down dough.? Roll out half of dough to approximately 9 x 13 size or until about ?¡± thick.? Cut into 12 squares, then each square into 2 triangles, for 24 pieces.
?
Filling:
Italian seasoning
12 mozzarella cheese sticks
?
Cut each cheese stick into 4 pieces.? Sprinkle each triangle with Italian seasoning and put on a cheese piece.? Bring dough around cheese making into a ball shape.? Place seam side down close together (sides touching) on parchment paper on a cookie sheet or
in greased baking dish.? Repeat with the other half of dough.
?
Cover and let rise 1 hour.
?
Topping:
1 egg
1 TB water
Parmesan cheese
Garlic salt
Dried parsley
?
Mix egg and water and lightly brush onto the rolls (you won¡¯t use it all).? Then sprinkle with parmesan, garlic salt and parsley.
?
Bake at 425 degrees for 15-20 minutes.? Serve with marinara sauce if desired.
