Hey,
I stumbled upon this fascinating video today on one of the YouTube channels I follow. The link starts around the 9-minute mark and delves deeper into the world of radio. I found it incredibly intriguing, not only because it sheds a little light on the fascinating history of radio but also because it revealed a surprising aspect of Amelia Earhart¡¯s navigation - radio played a pivotal role in it! If you¡¯re into history, radio, or simply curious about how Amelia Earhart used radio to navigate, I highly recommend checking it out. Here are some of the topics covered in the video that might pique your interest:
- History of radio
- The discovery of radio waves
- Various uses of radio
- Frequency skip
- Loop antennas
- Sense antennas
- Locating source radio waves
- The significance of communication and planning
The video is quite short, clocking in at around 35 minutes, even if you watch it from the beginning. It left me intrigued and inspired to try out the radio source location technique mentioned in the video. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Please know that the memorial service for Gail Hinshaw has been scheduled for this Saturday, at 10 am at Calvary Chapel here in La Grande. We have a number of members who will be attending the memorial and will be unable to assist with the antenna build. Please know that Ted has offered his house for the following weekend, Nov. 23rd. If this change will cause a hardship for you, please reach out to me directly - chris.leavitt@... and I will see what we can do to get you an antenna.?
Again, the build will not be taking place this weekend, has been moved to the following weekend.?
Thanks for your understanding on this matter, please disregard my previous email.?
Take care,?
C.?

We have an antenna build at Ted's house (2702 N. Ash) in La Grande. Cost is $25 (as per our last cost list, may have gone up?) and will be starting at 10am.
Hope to see you there!

??? The ISS is now transmitting SSTV images for the next few days. If you want to try to receive them, all you need is an HT tuned to 145.800. Then using a smart phone download a SSTV app to convert the sounds to a picture.
For Android download Robot36
For Apple download SSTV Slow Scan TV (they do charge money though)
Take a look at the N2YO web pages below for pass times and predictions. Also, placing your HT antenna parallel to the earth tends to pick up a better reception if it is over head.
My apologies for the late release of the meeting agenda notes. See the attached PDF below.?
Note the following dates for future events
Nov. 9th - Club Breakfast (no change)?
Nov. 9th - ARES Set (starts at 10am).?
Nov. 16th - J-Pole Build at Ted's house.?
Remember to consider officer positions for nominations at the November Meeting and we plan to have two test takers at the November meeting. If you're working towards a higher license, consider testing with us. See you on Nov. 26th!
