Thank you to everyone who was listening in to my activation yesterday. The wind was blowing pretty hard on the summit, which wreaked havoc on my mic. Also, it looks like it's time to upgrade my antenna since my Nagoya one didn't get out as well as I had hoped.

?

Does anyone have suggestions for better antennas and/or wind protection for a HT? It needs to be small enough to fit in my running vest.

?

- Total distance: 16.65 miles

- Total elevation gain: 3,640'

- Total time spent on summit: 20 minutes

- Car to car time: 6 hours, 30 minutes

Good morning everyone!

I am planning on activating Hyalite Peak (W7M/HB-007) this coming Sunday, the 11th. The weather is looking a little so-so, and I need to get back to town pretty quickly, so I'm hoping to just activate on VHF/UHF. I'll call out on 146.52 as always, and I am planning on being on the summit by 0930 or earlier. Would love to work a whole bunch of you if possible.

Hey Don,

It went well! I managed 5 contacts (1 on 20m, 3 on 2m, and 1 on 70cm) on Sacajewa, and then 10 contacts (5 each on 20m and 2m) on Hardscrabble.

20m was very difficult, that band has not been great. I didn't try any other HF bands as my EFHW is cut for 20, and I didn't want to compromise my system any more than necessary.

I attached a couple of photos, I'll also drop them in the Facebook page.
