Grant Topic 2: Boyscouts.

Since most of our club members are here on the reflector, we need to discuss before the next meeting (7/11/24) so decisions can be made and voted on during the meeting. In the last several months two topics have been mentioned by club members as to activitities and direction of the club. One being the Welfare Messaging System and two is increasing club membership with community outreach programs (Boyscouts being the most logical beginner step). ?There are at least 3 different club members who have written grants before so I think we could get this done by the soon approaching grant deadline.

Novice and General License Manuals to be used by students.?
10 radio kits for students to learn soldering and assembly skills and for student use when completed.
miscellaneous wire and connectors to create simple antennas for student use.
copies for classroom activites
Financial assistance for student licensing fees.?

This is an example of ideas for community outreach.? I'm sure some of our hams in the club who helped in the past with the boyscouts could help guide us through this process of what the boyscouts need from us hams.? Do they need training?? Do they need help building and use of antennas?? Do they need learning materials?? Do they need hands on seminars?

I will ask Robin(KJ7VVO) to reach out to the main contact in the Gallatin valley for the boyscouts to get a rough estimate of how many scouts would participate in a directional antenna build and how many would be working toward their ham radio merit badge.?

Lets start this discussion this week so decisions can be made at the meeting on July 11th.?

Thank you,
