YOU HAVE A DECISION TO MAKE 3
It looks like I am going to need to send our KPA1500 off to Elecraft for repair. Without the amp coax switch we are limited to one antenna. I can give you 20-6 meters with the rotor OR 40-6 with the phased array. Remember, 100 watts. I really need some donations for FedEx. Hi Keith, While I want the senior tech to look over my shoulder, it looks to me like the RF deck has to come back in for physical repair. Hold on a tic, Doug Elecraft Customer Support support@... 831-763-4211

Amp Problem
We had a few bucks in the fund to pay next months power bill. I withdrew some of it to pay FedEx for shipping the amp off to Elecraft for WARRANTY REPAIR. I am rigging for 80-6 meter operation with 100 watts on the verticals. This will play well for you.

Amp Problem
You are now on the phased verticals 40-6 meters with 100 watts. The 1500 watts may have spoiled you but 100 watts can be fun. TRY IT.

NEGATIVE PROGRESS TODAY 2
It is one of those days when I should have stayed in bed. The purpose of the trip today was to add 80 and 60 meters. Simple enough??? WRONG. Until I go back up after some sleep I should be able to do it. BUT, RIGHT NOW, all you have is 40 meters. Sorry, sometimes poop happens.

VP8PJ DX-pedition
Ok, let me know. I pay the fee and extra donation too. Thank you for the opportunity and your hard work. Btw, in my own opinion it is not better to have hundreds of members/users, better to have a hard core of members. But I can understand your side that you need a maximum of paying users for your hard work. I love your remote from the first day of. Keith Lamonica <w7dxx@...> schrieb am So. 9. Feb. 2020 um 16:10: =================================================== Elecraft: Doug, The guys on the remote are very anxious to work a new upcoming DX-pedition. IS IT POSSIBLE FOR YOUR PEOPLE TO GET STARTED ON MY AMP if we pay an added service fee.

Remote Spares
I have been gathering equipment so that we have spare "everythings." I have A spare computer spare antennas spare power supply What I don't have is A spare transceiver Amplifier and misc. If you have any of these surplus to your needs. A loan or gift would keep us on the air in the event of a failure. Check your garage. What can you lend (I'll insure it) or donate. (I'll give you a tax receipt) RSVP Keith, W7DXX

Remote 3
New kid on the block here and enjoying the W7DXX remote. Recently decided to dismantle my HF station after 70 years. so the use of the remote fills that gap. Reside in Maryland just outside of Washington DC. 73 Murray K3BEQ (formerly W4GPW,W2GPW.

Beam Headings 5
Query: This morning I was on 20M working a station in French Guiana, (FY7HB) which is off the NE corner of south america. However his signal peaked in a NE direction (318 degrees) instead of South from New Mexico Am I pointing the rotor/yagi correctly from New Mexico? Maybe I am confused since I am use to pointing yagis from my ex station in Maryland nr DC? I don't believe it was propagation causing an anomaly of direction. Tnx Murray K3BEQ

Verticals Problem

I'd like to thank those of you who helped with the monthly expenses AND, clarify a couple of things. First, the W7DXX remote base is a one-man operation. I have no sponsors - no advertisers. All expenses are paid by me. I operate the station on a shoestring budget. What support I do have comes from your yearly dues. I structured the dues a few years ago. I set the dues amount at a figure I felt would meet expenses. I have not increased dues for many years. Nor, do I expect to. Clearly, we need a fund to cover growth, equipment upgrades, and repairs, as with our current amp failure. Thank goodness the amp repair is a warranty item and all I'm out is Fedex shipping costs. I have the equipment insured for most kinds of failure. The insurance premium is a reasonable $300 per year. Renewable April 1, 2020. I have gotten support from some ham radio manufacturers and dealers for the sole purpose of providing prizes to our contest winners. As an example, I have close to $1,000 worth of prizes to award with our upcoming contest. Back to the main point. Years ago I determined the dues amount based on the assumption that membership would grow by a reasonable amount each year. Probably because of propagation issues, our membership numbers are not growing. I have a quarter page ad in CQ Magazine aimed at attracting new members. This ad is due out next month. I've invested, along with SteppIR, in a 40 meter phased array that is working well. STILL, I cannot seem to attract new members. I do not want to beg each month for financial help. Help that always comes from the same few of you anyway. I do very much enjoy providing the remote base for you. It is my sole ham radio interest. I WOULD ASK EVERYONE OF YOU to come up with ideas on how we can save W7DXX REMOTE.

My screw up 4
This will be solved today. It would have been done yesterday but the winds were extreme. We don't have 80 meters because I screwed up. When you add the SteppIR 80 meter coil you need to move the radials from the vertical to the coil. Or, the antenna is presented with a direct path to ground. Complicated, I know, but that is the way it works. There is no wind today so I should be able to give you 80-6 meters. Sorry for my error.

Success 6
I was able to make it to the remote this morning after all. You now have ALL BANDS 80-6 METERS. Enjoy the remote.

Step back with SteppIR 2
I am going to roll back the verticals program a bit to where everything appeared to work. That is to say, the verticals worked well on 40 as a phased array. Along the way, one of the two antenna controllers failed and we were forced to operate with one vertical non-directional. I installed the 80 meter coil to give us 80/30 meters. Our 40 radials are not efficient on 80, so that did not work. I am going to return us to the DX Engineering Phased Array mode with the relays to switch the directional pattern to aim Europe/Pacific/ or USA. The relays are displayed now but will have no effect until I change coax feeds. I will lay down some 80 meter radials and install the non-directional relay for 80 meters. I have the Bandmaster III ready to install as a failsafe system to protect the DXE box from out of band failure.

We have two annual bills for the remote. Our equipment insurance through ARRL, and our internet with Godaddy. Both are required. For the past few years a some of you, recognizing the importance, have made a donation toward this. The Godaddy renewal is due in two weeks. I can pay this now.
