No Powwr

REMEMBER when changing bands the verticals are auto-tuning to the new frequency AND WHILE THEY ARE TUNING the amplifier key line is open and you will see no amp power until tuning is complete. This is all automatic. Just give it a moment or two.?
This routine prevents the amplifier from transmitting? into a bad SWR and failing, or the amp hitting the antennas with 1500 watts while they are tuning and destroying them.
I am trying to make this system as idiot-proof as I can.
OK??

I worked VP8PJ? tonight 3/4 0138z cw 7005

Don't get on as much as I want to, but glad I managed this one.

as per the 40m contest, I'd love to try it out, but things are pretty crazy and I couldn't guarantee I'd have time to operate much.

I have been using Log4OM for a few months now and this software is GREAT!

One of the feature I really like is the propagation report. You can get it in a text format but you cal also get it in a easy to understand graphic display.

Re: Help

Hi Keith - according to my records, the last time I PayPal'd $ to you for our ARRL insurance was:

11/11/2019 $305.00 PayPal ARRL Insurance Premium $302.98 due

I can't open the link you sent but as I recall, that was an annual premium so I'm a little confused about the April 1 due date. Did we jump the gun in November or were we behind on our payment?

Either way, let me know -- thanks -- Don N4HH

?

I am going to roll back the verticals program a bit to where everything appeared to work. That is to say, the verticals worked well on 40 as a phased array.?
Along the way, one of the two antenna controllers failed and we were forced to operate with one vertical non-directional.
I installed the 80 meter coil to give us 80/30 meters.? Our 40 radials are not efficient on 80, so that did not work.

I am going to return us to the DX Engineering Phased Array mode with the relays to switch the directional pattern to aim Europe/Pacific/? or USA.
The relays are displayed now but will have no effect until I change coax feeds.

I will lay down some 80 meter radials and install the non-directional relay for 80 meters.? I have the Bandmaster III ready to install as a failsafe system to protect the DXE box from out of band failure.

You now have ALL BANDS 80-6 METERS.
Enjoy the remote.

Re: My screw up

No worries and yes with the 80m for the BigIR, it's easy to miss.? I sold my BigIR with 80m coil to my buddy when I was moving qth. He put it together at his QTH but couldn't get 80m and sold it for cheap.? He told me about it and I asked where he'd stick the radials and he said at the vertical, not the coil.? Jim Streibel of SteppIR says the coil changes the height and is now part of the vertical so the radials belong on coil.

My screw up

This will be solved today.? It would have been done yesterday but the winds were extreme.
We don't have 80 meters because I screwed up.? When you add the SteppIR 80 meter coil you need to move the radials from the vertical to the coil.?Or, the antenna is presented with a direct path to ground.

Complicated, I know, but that is the way it works.
There is no wind today so I should be able to give you 80-6 meters.
Sorry for my error.
