I think 's primary purpose should be a way for the club to make announcements and stay in touch with the club members, and less a channel where anything goes. If gets too much garbage, people will unsubscribe from it, and the club won¡¯t be able to stay in contact?with its members.

If the board decides to use ?for the main communication channel, it makes sense to ask the members to join, but you can¡¯t ask them to join and then have ?send dozens of emails with two-word sentences or random stuff not related to the club or hobby as we have on the chat.
