Hello everyone, with today being the last day of the year in 2023 I¡¯ve made it an annual event to reflect on the year, with this reflection I feel as if the club might be interested in doing the same. With that being said here are some general questions for the club as a whole: 1.???? What events did our club organize this year? 2.???? How many members do we currently have? 3.???? How many members have we gained/lost throughout the year? 4.???? Can we compile a list of the equipment that the club now owns? 5.???? What were the final counts for net check-ins and the total number of nets held? 6.???? What plans do we have in store for 2024? 7.???? How can we gain more membership? 8.???? Are there any PR (Public Relations) events scheduled? 9.???? Is there a list of future projects or events? 10.??????????????????????? Could we get an end-of-year financial report? ? I¡¯m looking forward to reviewing the answers, the entirety of 2024, the club¡¯s activities, and being a valued member of the club! As always comments or feedback are welcomed and if needed, I can explain the questions further. I wish all of you a Happy New Year and 73s. |

Brian,
I like the end of the year assessment.? What did we do not so well, what did we do well, what can we do better.? I think it's a great idea and important for continued growth of the club, or any organization really.? I think you have posed some valid questions and I look forward to hearing input on them. Personally, I would like to see a contact list of all members be created, so that it would be easier to contact each other, rather than trying to reach them on the air, and it would be nice to know how large our club is.? That ties into knowing how many folks PARC has lost and gained over the course of the year.? That will help us to understand how we can keep our club viable.? I would like to see more events sponsored by the club.? We may all not want to or be able to participate in them, but a variety of activities keeps it fun and interesting.?? A restructuring of the club might help with some of the recording keeping.? Separating the Secretary and Treasurer positions would allow for more participation by others in the club, and allow the individuals in those positions to concentrate on their specific tasks.? Creation of a Quartermaster position, to maintain an inventory of club equipment would be helpful.? As a club member, I personally, have no idea of what equipment the club has, the quantities, where it is stored, and how to access it.? It would be a helpful position to have.?? Presenting new members with a welcome packet, including the above mentioned contact list, a copy of the club Constitution, a list of current officers and Board of Directors, club repeater info, etc., would be nice.? Currently, I only know the President, Secretary/Treasurer, and one Board member.? I have a copy of the constitution, but I received it from another club member.? ?This information would be welcoming and just plain good to know for new club members. The club constitution is a whole other issue in itself.? It is apparent that as a club, we are not following our own guidelines.? Maybe we need to revise them?? Just something to consider. I truly enjoy being a member of PARC.? That being said, I also belong to several other area clubs, and I have found them to be more fun, welcoming, and active.? I would love to see our club become the best club in central Kentucky.? I believe we can do this by working together.? There should be something for everyone in the club and we all should feel a part of it.? ?Working within our community to encourage new membership, sponsoring more activities, perhaps some of our more experienced members would be willing to teach classes to us not so experienced ones?? ?Just some ideas we as a club might consider. My two cents for anyone who cares.? I don't have all the answers.? I know it can be difficult to motivate people and institute change.? I also feel some of these changes might help us grow in members, unity, and friendship as a club. Happy New Year to everyone!? May you all be blessed! ?? |

To the members of PARC,
I have been a member of PARC, for a little over a year now.? I became involved in Amateur Radio, because my husband suggested it.? We wanted to remove our landline and quit paying AT&T, to allow folks to harass us with telemarketing calls.? We wanted a back up form of communication that didn't rely on the cell service.? I never dreamed in a million years, that I would find so much enjoyment in ham radio.? I have had so much fun, and met some of the best people around.? The ham community is one of the most helpful, supportive, and encouraging.? Learning to build antennas, participating in Field Days, contests, fox hunts, and catching up with friends on weekly nets, are all part of the new and exciting experiences I have had because of ham radio.? I would like to pay this forward, by announcing my willingness to be nominated for the position of Vice President of PARC, and ask for your support in our upcoming election. Thank you!
