Re: Language barrier concerns

I only had one driver who had me talk to a translation app to translate from English to Spanish. Other than that I haven¡¯t had any luck. I¡¯ve actually had better luck texting back and forth with someone who is deaf or hard of hearing, which in a lot of instances when I get alerted about a deaf driver it turns out they can communicate with no problem.

?No, they should be able to copy the text, and put it into an app and do the translating that way. It's not that hard to copy and paste someone's wording. If they can't do that, they definitely don't need to be driving for Uber.

Will a text that I send in English be translated into the language they speak? Many times, these drivers end up being rude.

?Hi Jeff, have you tried resulting to texting the driver in this instance? This might be better results as they can use apps to translate your text into their language.

Hi guys, I am wondering how you all handle situations where your driver doesn¡¯t speak English? I have run into situations like this from time to time and the outcome has been negative more times then positive. Take last week for instance, I was dropped off down the block from my destination, and when I asked the driver a question, I was simply ignored. I didn¡¯t give a good rating. Other times, I have been a little luckier but am not feeling comfortable. For transportation I use Lyft. I had one driver a year or so ago even laugh at me when we had to find the right location and that was several blocks away. I just let him leave me at the location, and reported him to Lyft and then ordered another ride home.
