Re: Understanding the Mini-360 Buck voltage Regulator
Same here. The more I looked into this component the more I like it. Finding these items for less than 50 cents each in quantities of 10 on eBay. Buying a few to drop in the junk box. Till later Hank

Re: Implementation of the voltmeter option
My job put me on a road trip for a few days. Me being me I threw a bench power supply, the laptop where I've been working on the source code, and the VFO in the vehicle so I could work on the project

Aw, crap! I knew that and it never crossed my mind. Gees...another year or two and I'll be able to have my own Easter egg hunt. Jack, W8TEE To: SoftwareControlledHamRadio@... Sent:

Re: The VFO functions good
The 49er audio output jack pcb wiring apparently shorts the LM386 audio out signal when a 3.5mm plug is inserted (may be a stereo jack.) I replaced that jack with a mono type and have audio

Re: The VFO functions good
Alas, several people have had bad parts during the build. I've built four units and have been lucky so far, and two of those were the cheapest I could find. Also, one of them had the later 612 on it,

The VFO functions good
OK, hooked everything up last evening, nary a peep or received signals out of the 49er. So, got some time on our fancy digital 'scope here at work to check out the DDS VFO and it is working perfectly

Understanding the Mini-360 Buck voltage Regulator
Up to the time that I decided to build this radio from the March 2016 QST, I had never heard of the "mini-360 Buck voltage regulator! I have built a few electronic kits recently and this was a new one

Re: It's Alive! [1 Attachment]
Good job Jeff!? I hope that when I finish mine, I have the same results!? The first 49-er kit that I assembled, also put out just under 2 watts.? Then for fun, I put my HF-Packer linear amplifier

Re: It's Alive! [1 Attachment]
Good to see that you got it working! I'm adding my BCI filter in permanently. I'm hoping to get the rig back in time for Field Day. Jack, W8TEE To: softwarecontrolledhamradio@... Sent:

Sounds like were from the same era. I got my ticket in 1954 and have been licensed ever since. Been a Life Member of the ARRL since 1972...best $150 investment I ever made! I know enough electronics

No, but I did learn that I cannot edit your data. So, if you want to add your new call, you'll have to edit it yourself. I do see you back on the roster and Dennis told me he approved it, so you

You really gave me a scare!. All of a sudden I was no longer connected. Was wondering if I had been a bad boy. Whew! I've really enjoyed being on this group.

Re: Got my ticket!
I am planning on going to a field day somewhere this Saturday. I suspect I will go to the North Fulton (Roswell, GA) one since it is nearby and I can only do it for a couple of hours. I've received

It's Alive!
I finished assembling my unit on the weekend and it seems to be working quite well. It picks up quite a few CW stations in the evening and I'm getting RF output of close to 2 Watts. I have to find a

Got my ticket!
A week ago last Sunday took the Technician test. Passed it. Then took the General even though I hadn't prepped for it. Passed it. Got my ticket today. Please add my call sign to the roster. Dale Frye

Re: Pilot error?
I wouldn't unsolder them yet, until you're convinced they're bad. Check the voltage on the base and collectors of the transistors. I can't remember the voltages you should see on the collectors, but

Re: Pilot error?
Ah - you are on to something. As best I can measure, I see no output from either transistor. Its hard to believe that both are faulty, but should I try to replace both of them? Last time I tried to
