Re: Got my ticket!

Sounds like were from the same era. I got my ticket in 1954 and have been licensed ever since. Been a Life Member of the ARRL since 1972...best $150 investment I ever made! I know enough electronics to get into trouble, but am fairly good on the software end of things. I love to build stuff and wish I was a EE guy instead of an economist!?

I'll be doing Field Day from the club station, W8MRC, mostly on CW.

Jack, W8TEE

I am planning on going to a field day somewhere this Saturday. I suspect I will go to the North Fulton (Roswell, GA) one since it is nearby and I can only do it for a couple of hours. I've received invites to others in the area. Wow, Hams are a friendly bunch! Unfortunately my friend, Steve Hudson AA4BW, won't be here. He will be working CW QRP from Palau, Micronesia! He does have different call letters for there but I don't know them. (I better ask quick before he leaves!) Steve talked me into getting back into Ham. I did start on getting my Novice 40 years ago but things got in the way.

Little bit of background - I have been involved with computers for 40+ years, soup to nuts. The past two years I've been playing around with Arduino and ESP8266. I'm strong on the digital side, hardware and software. The analog side is quite a bit rusty. Hoping being a ham will encourage me to improve that deficiency. Steve and I have been talking about direct conversion receivers so when I found this group I was really excited.
