Re: My version of a VFO controlled Chinese Transceiver
Hi DuWayne, Very interesting project. I liked the can enclosure, very creative. How is the performance of your Canned Frog ? I also noticed that you have some cool projects on your blog, keep us

Re: Delay in Forty 9er Receiver Operation
Hi Dennis, Please let me know if you discover any solutions. I am not having this *exact* problem. When I turn on my 49er with the DDS VFO connected, I only get hiss out of the headphones. I never get

My version of a VFO controlled Chinese Transceiver
I built a different VFO controlled 40 meter transceiver using a Frog Sounds transceiver, Arduino, si5351 breakout board and an OLED display. I have several posts with details on my blog. DuWayne's

I agree. I never flirt with the band edges that close anyway. No sense doing something stupid...again. Jack, W8TEE To: SoftwareControlledHamRadio@... Sent: Tuesday, May 3, 2016 7:14 AM

Re: My_Tuning_Constant
The difference of 200 HZ may not be a true measure if you use a frequency counter. I have three very good counters and they are all off by at least that much. A better measure is to use a high quality

Re: My_Tuning_Constant
If you take 2^32 and divide it by 125000000, you get 34.359738368, which we will call the "clock factor". The frequency you want is 7.061.8. So what we want to find is what tuning word will "make"

If you're interested in QRP, check out the FDIM conference that takes place just before the hamfest. It is also in Dayton and starts on Thursday. The group publishes QRP Quarterly and it's a fun

Dayton Hamvention 2016
Hola! This is not directly related to the 49er project but I wanted to ask if anybody in the group is planning to attend Dayton this year ? So far, I'm planning to go Friday and Saturday. Of course

My_Tuning_Constant
Hi! How did you find the new tuning constant ? The screen on my 49er reads 7.062.0 versus my frequency counter showing 7.061.8. I'm a bit stuck finding my new tuning constant. The formula shows FOUT

Re: Delay in Forty 9er Receiver Operation
Ok, I have done extensive testing of the unit and here is what I have found: the delay is exactly 30 seconds (I was really off with my previous estimate of 2 minutes). As soon as I depress the

Here is some additional info. The delay is experienced even with the Forty 9er not connected to the DDS. I put both of my Forty 9er boards on a test stand with nothing but an antenna, headphones and

Delay in Forty 9er Receiver Operation
ALL, I have noticed an almost 2 minute delay from the time power is applied to the Forty 9er until receiver actually operates. I get an audio hiss as soon as power is applied, but the actual receiver

Re: Low Audio, CP2 Proximity sensitivity
Hi Norbert. Since I was using the RF Probe on my VTVM to get what I *incorrectly* thought was the peak-to-peak value, I simply used it again. However, this time, I used the formula to calculate RMS to

Re: Low Audio, CP2 Proximity sensitivity
You can measure the resistance across R1 before it's part of the circuit and adjust it for max reading. Then you know that it's in the circuit with the highest resistance possible. 73,Jack, W8TEE To:

Hi! Interesting information Aaron, I would not expect the d882 to be tied to the RX side of the circuit. Puzzling indeed, I'll take a closer look at mine tonight. How did you reset the peak to peak
