Cheap isolation transformers
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI ran across something that I need to share.? I bought a two-pack of audio transformers on Amazon that work very well for the cost.? Works great to break ground-loop issues, hum, etc.? Cheap too¡ and a WHOLE LOT cheaper than the ElectroVoice transformers I usually buy at $225 each with my RE20¡¯s!? Tried it on my T41 and it does clean up the mic.? Not perfect but cheap. ? ? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAs it happens, I got a stuffed board quote for a commercial project I¡¯ve been working for a branch of the government yesterday that, a month ago the estimate was just north of $65K.? Re: JLCPCB Price Increase
Other threads in other groups, showing the actual executive order, show that the de minimus exclusion will be removed for shipments from China, but at the moment, not for other countries.
?
The tariffs will not be collected by the seller, but by customs. If the vendor price increases by 100%, that will make the overall tariff higher.
?
For the projects I was considering, the shipping cost far exceeded the bare board cost, so even a 100% tariff would not increase the overall cost that much. But since the carrier (e.g. DHL) will add charges for handling the customs chores that were not needed under de minimus, costs will go up even more.?
?
You may think about doing the customs yourself, but in my past life, it was a blessing to able to check the box "Let FedEx act as your customs broker".
?
Maybe some transshipment schemes can reduce the effect, but in general, it looks like a lousy deal for hobbyists and small businesses. And don't expect to see the proceeds from the tariffs to show up in your wallet any time soon. As a retiree, my taxes are already low.
?
edit-- I must admit that it is hard to tell what's going on. Some AliExpress prices are roughly doubling when I click on a link in an email. Some are not. I guess I'll have to buy something cheap and find out.

Re: The T41 from 4SQRP and V11 boards.
All: Agree. Most people probably aren't aware of and don't appreciate the effort David (NG0S), Ron (AG1P, SK), and the others at 4SQRP put into the T41 Project. The inventory/holding costs were a huge financial burden on the group and Ron kitted the bags of parts and, given his health, I'm sure it was a monumental burden on him. Greg (KF5N) made Herculean contributions to the software from the outset and went on to make changes to the boards themselves. I think most people are aware of the largess provided to the project by Dr. Bill Schmidt (K9HZ) in providing boards at cost plus the improved PA design. Oliver King (KI3P) has made major improvements in the software as well as the design/layout of the PCB plus some really nice images of the board layout. We now have over 3200+ members on the T41 site and many have made improvements/suggestions that have nudged the Project to its current state. I finally have my new system to the point where I can test the current state of the software and Oliver has that in great shape. Al and I have finished the last update to the book and it now appears that Amazon is shipping the new updated version of the book. You can tell if you have the final version by looking at the cover. It should look like: and have a new chapter at the end of the book (Chapter 20, Calibration). Like some of you, I ordered copies for Al and I to review and they sent the wrong edition. (If this happened to you, it is very easy to return them.) Al is turning over the design to Bill and I'm handing off the software to Oliver going forward. Oliver will hold our last software release on Github (without future forks), plus a second release specifically for debugging/enhancements. Al and I will continue to monitor this site, but will be more in the background. We plan on doing more operating, working on some new stuff, plus eating bon-bons and getting to know our XYLs! Alas, I didn't make enough from the Project's book to buy my Swiss chalet, but Al and I are pleased with the direction things are going. It's been fun... Jack, W8TEE

Re: Updated 3rd Edition book NOT shipping from Amazon yet
There is no electronic version. Every time I had an electronic version of a book, my royalties weren't enough to let me even Supersize my lunch. The torrent sites make it available free for the download. Trying to shut them down is simply a version of Whack-a-Mole; they pop up again within hours. My position is: If you download the book without paying for it and you read it and like it, then buy the book. So far, I think maybe two people have done that. Sadly, that's just the way things are... Jack, W8TEE
