Gary, ? Sorry, that was over my head. I am working to understand microprocessors in general, and Arduino in Particular, as fast as I can. I have amassed a significant amount of knowledge over the past few weeks, but have a ways to go. ? Are you suggesting that I make some software or hardware modification to the supply voltage of the encoder? I do not see a Vcc line. ? Still learning, ? Dennis ?
You might also try enabling the Vcc line to your encoder. According to the library internal pull-ups are inlace but I had a similar problem and that cured my issue.
