Re: First build progress and questions

sw should go to pin 17
+ should go to 7, 8, 9, or 10 (+5V)

Subject: [SoftwareControlledHamRadio] First build progress and questions

?
Hello All, Finally have most of the parts now. ?I built up the VFO board today. ?I have a nice clean sine wave from the dds vfo, using an old bk 15Meg scope, little bit flakey, but best I have, and technically I do not know much about scopes. ?

I did adjust the R1 to get a 4vpp oscillator signal. ?Looking Good. ?12V and 5V voltages good. ?I have the rotary encoder hooked up as well. ?I hear my oscillator signal on a sony receiver, at 7031, so I need to adjust it a bit. ?That I saw the calculations and have to go back and do that. ?

I am stuck on one item however, when I push the encoder, I see it change the steps. ?But when I turn the encoder nothing happens. ?I expect the frequency to change, but it does not. ?I think I must have something wrong, but I double checked the schematic. ?My encoder is hooked as followes;
Encoder DDS Board
clk yellow pin 22 on schem - says 3 on Board
dt yellow pin 18 schem - says 2 on board
sw yellow pin 19 on schem - says G on board
+ yellow pin 17 on schem - says 4 on board
gnd yellow pin 20 on schem - says G on board

I "assumed" pin 18, 20, 22,and 24 are the pins near the outside of the board and the odd number pins are on the inside, perhaps that is the problem?

I have not put any debounce caps on the switch and have not modified the software in any way. ?I can't seem to find why the frequency won't change. ?Any help would be Great!!

Thanks
