Observing ISS (and other satellites)
Dear all, I create a specific thread for observing satelittes by copying / pasting? some exchange that was done in /g/ServoCAT/topic/autocal_cable_length/106277132 My initial message

Re: AutoCAL cable length
OK, thanks Gary, I will do as you say. From your message, I understand that, even in deceleration phase, the scope will stop briefly anyway (and then I note the numbers) then restart ? Right ? Thanks

Re: AutoCAL cable length
Good monring guys.? Raphael, So - I think your chosen method to do the simple alignment might be the issue with the fact that it didn't finish. I'd just do it as intended and described - under the

Re: AutoCAL cable length
Thanks guys ! Wonderfull answers Gary : Before I? adjusted -not perfectly- the ratio like as I described I had tested the "simple track optimization routine" procedure you explained but it didn't

Re: AutoCAL cable length
That's a fabulous scope for ISS tracking.? My 15" UC has about the same eyepiece height, and it works out great for ISS (don't forget about CSS).? You will absolutely have a hole around zenith

Re: AutoCAL cable length
Raphael, Ok. So the best way to determine ratios is to do the "simple track optimization routine". Ask Bill for a copy of this doc (it is on the CD as well). Basically you'd do a goto to an object and

Re: AutoCAL cable length
Hi gary, No translation issue, it is with a 36" dob. Enclosed a picture. Yes, looking the star "flying" was amazing? ! and you see ISS enlarging little by little, see the solar panels as it comes
Re: AutoCAL cable length
Rapheal, If you are close on the ratios an AutoCAL will not help with what you're trying to do. It is running closed loop and the ServoCAT is aggressive (high gain) in order to keep up ... BUT the AN

3D pieces received! looks great ! Thanks Mike for having shared this !!! raphael
AutoCAL cable length
Dear all After having updated servocat to version 7 and ArgoNavis to version 3.04. I have for the first time succesfully? observed ISS with AN/servocat . Ssssooooo happy ! I have made some

Re: Dead CAT
ok. So - remind me (sorry - replied to email and not the thread on the group) ... did you change out the motor encoder cable? Maybe replace that. If its not that then one thing I would see

Re: Dead CAT
Both the AZ and ALT motors work as expected using the HC, at all slew speeds. My problem is (way maybe) intermitted, it would start slewing in AZ (clockwise) on its own, with nobody touching

Re: Dead CAT
And you're sure you were seeing the red DSC light flashing for this whole time? Does the AZ motor work if you use the HC to slew it? I'd just stuck with this as the test. g.

Re: ServoCAT Cover
Thanks Mike finally I found ?a 3D printing website where, after uploaded the file, it indicates the global dimension if the file is in mm or in inch so I realized that the file was in mm. There is a

Re: Dead CAT
Finally getting back to looking at this. My one attempt at putting the SC into EasyTrack mode didn't provide any clues.? It's likely I never configured the EasyTrack settings in the SC since when I

Re: ServoCAT Cover
Also, I typically print items using PETG filament, it has a higher glass transition temperature (85C) than PLA (60C).? I've left PLA items in my vehicle and I've found they have warped if I've parked

Re: Imaging, sensor size, secondary size
Gary, So true. When I first was introduced to SST scopes at Chiefland Astronomy Village, their secondary cage was fixed. As more and more SST owners started using MallinCams and focal reducers, Mike

Re: Imaging, sensor size, secondary size
The SST will by design have a larger secondary - Mike does that knowing people will want to image with it. But the comment re the UC is interesting. Unfortunately I can't say that it translates well

Re: Auto lock and synch
Mike, Indeed I had forgotten you do this from inside. So - yes it stays on, or should (I've not tested this as its from the planetarium GOTO function). It will lock on the point where the GOTO ends.
