I did mention Bill, the new owner of the ServoCAT product line, is working on new products which will include new means to connect .... but that is an ongoing program with time to be determined. Bill will annouce when its appropriate. Stay tuned!? ? Gary Myers ? |

I understand.
No problem , I will just rotate the (wireless) hand pad in my hand.?

Raphael,
No - sorry. That functionality isn't in there and would not have been considered since, now decades later, you're the only one to have asked for and shown a need for it. It would have been confusing to others that would have inevitably tried it?:?

Change right-Left button to move vertically and Up/down buttons to move horizontally : is it possible ?
Dear all,
The light path on my dob is a little special as my secondary is tilted more than 45° to send light toward the bottom of scope (because it is a 36"). I had a 90° diagonal just before eyepiece and I changed it recently to a 120° diagonal to have a better eye position. See picture below.
With the 90° diagonal the Right/Left button was not horizontal but tited. Same for Up/down.
Now with the 120° diagonal, I have noticed that the R/L buttons move the stars up/down and that the up/down move the stars right/left. So not easy for the brain to manage...!
I know you can reverse R and L or U and D, but is there a possibility to convert the R/L button to U/D movement and U/D to R/L ?
If not, I will have to hold the handpad rotated 90°. Not a big deal, but If the function exist to convert horizontal button to vertical movement, I would prefer...
Note that the servocat is guiding correctly, I believe -without being sure- that it's my light path that generate this problem.
Thanks for feedback

Re: Local SYNC activated or not ?
Dear Gary, dear all,
"Anyway, I will redo all the test and make videos in 3 weeks:?
Following the previous exchanges in the thread I did yesterday the above test.
* The Leds during startup seems? normal :see video "img_3622"
* up+down or Cw+CCW for 1 sec : ok, yellow led activate (and I checked later in field that yes, directions are inversed when pressing)
* press the local synch button : see the video : there is something strange? when pressing it. it stops to light after 1 sec. Note that :
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? *the video was taken few seconds after? so hand pad was very near the main servocat unit.?
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? * Argonavis was not started => no target selected on Argonavis => maybe this behavior of the local synch button is normal when AN not yet started ?
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? * I say this because after Angonavis was put in operation, I tested the local synch function and it behaved normally
Thanks for your feedback confirming it is normal that the yellow Led turn off after 1 sec if AN not in function
Regards?

Re: ServoCAT Autoguiding breakthrough
Another example of the improvement thanks to Multi-Star Guiding:
Best 1.5 minute guiding period from my last session: 0.60" arc seconds total RMS (!)?
?
?
0.60" is about the limit of what my guiding setup can measure.
?
Even though Multi-Star guiding works well you can't choose the main star. If PHD2 picks a star at the opposite side of the frame with respect to the target the object will drift out of the frame pretty quickly if you are high above the horizon close to north/south, places we should stay away from anyway.
?
The optimal strategy would be to use a Rotator + OAG then the Multi-Star algorithm could pick any star and the object would not drift
from the field of view, not even because of guidescope flexure, the OAG would keep it locked.
?
Before i used an OAG on my 8" imaging newtonian the object would actually creep in the frame and cause walking noise despite the fact the guidescope was correctly mounted. So even on an Equatorial mount you can run in to such issues even if you are locked on the same guidestar the whole session.
?
Here is the result:
39.5 minutes (237x10s) on NGC 2146 - The Dusty Hand Galaxy.
?
This "skeletal hand" looking galaxy is located about 70 million light years from earth and it's shape is believed to be the result of a near
galactic collision.
?
On Astrobin:?
?
?
FWHM of the stack was about 2.60"

Re: Settings for use of AutoGUIDE
Your welcome Mike,
Thank you, happy to help !
?
Have fun, and when it comes to processing in my opinion less is more, sometimes a simple autostretch pulled back a bit looks better than very complicated processing.
?
That's just my opinion though, but I am definitely not alone thinking this way.
