Brian, was that an aftermarket install?

Based upon all of the S2 data I have, it doesn't appear that a 2GM10 engine was an option. Are you the original owner? --- In s227classassociation@..., <bsmokler@...> wrote:

A friend is a Yacht broker who has access to sold boat data. I asked him a question on pricing. There are many variables of course, location and condition. The pricing range he gave me for a 1985 in the northeast was $9.9-13K. --- In s227classassociation@..., Frank Wiewandt <fwphoto@...> wrote:

My '86 has the 1GM10. Can't remember if the 2 cylander was even an option.

I think you could stuff a 2GM in there but it would be tight. You'd probably have to shorten the prop shaft, though, maybe re-do the engine mounts. So, what do you think is a "reasonably priced S2 27" in good shape? Frank S/V Carina On Jan 28, 2014, at 9:15 PM, Mark wrote:

Brian, on this list, is the only one that I know of that has a 2GM and that was a re-power. Right Brian??

All 27's to best of my knowledge came with the 1GM10. I think the 2GM would be too big to fit.

Hmmm...I'm not sure that many (any?) 27s came with 2GM engines...it would have been nice if they all did.
It might be tough to find one.? My '87 model "B" has a 1GM10 with a two-bladed fixed prop, which will push the boat
at about 5.5 kts.

I would seriously consider a reasonably priced 27. I would prefer that it be the original "A" interior (pre-'86) and also with a 2GM engine (no outboards), but neither would be a "kill the deal" issue. I am located in the Chesapeake and have no problem with doing an on-the-water delivery from anywhere on the East Coast. The expense of trucking would have to be taken into account for boats located elsewhere.? If you have one or know of someone that may be willing to sell. please contact me. |
Re: Sad day...
Pick a nice day, if you can...makes it more palatable! I had a nice 15 knot breeze (gusting 18) mostly on the beam for my 30 mile single-handed sail to my haulout site. ?Took 6 hours, 20 min. ?Beautiful sunshine, temps in the mid-60s. Since the breeze was offshore, the waves were well behaved at ~1-1.5 ft. ?Great day, other than the fact that it was the end of the season... Bow Navigation Light Replacement
Hi Folks,

I just finished replacing my bow light with a Perko Bi-Color Navigation light (chrome finish), Model 0170MBO, which is an EXACT replacement for the OEM Lucas light 0120. ? My local West Marine ordered it for me from Perko, since they don't keep it in stock.? Cost was about $60; delivery was ~one week.? The black plastic (polymer) version is about 10 bucks less.? Here's the Perko web page: http://www.perko.com/catalog/category/navigation_lights_under_20_meters/product/931/ My installation was straightforward since my wiring was intact, and the entire project took about 30 minutes.? The festoon-type lamp was pre-installed in the housing. Unfortunately, it is not an LED, but it is nonetheless very bright. An instruction guide can be found on the Perko website: http://www.perko.com/images/catalog/pdf/0170%20Series%20Inst%28USCG%29.pdf I have posted photos of my installation in the "Photos" section under the "Bow Light Housing" album. Cheers! Hey Rick, I need to replace the plastic part of my bow running light assembly, which hangs from and is welded to the pulpit. Do you know which model you purchased from Defender? The stainless steel back plate is still intact, as is the wiring and the bayonet fitting for the lamp (pictures in the Photo section). Thanks! --Dave |

Re: Winterizing, replacing the gally foot pump, bow running light, battery storage
Hi, ? Just to let everyone know the bow light I have on my 1986 27 seems to be a Lucas fitting and I thought the ones in the Perko catalog looked like they would match. Turns out they don't they are listed as being 4 1/8" long and 3 5/8" tall, the Lucas light is 3 5/8" long and 2 " tall. Anyone know where I can get a replacement lens for the Lucas. ? Thanks ? john ? Re: Winterizing, replacing the gally foot pump, bow running light, battery storage
Rick, ? I called Perko, the rep said that the lens they sell is one piece. My light has two lens (red & green) that fit behind a clear (in my case formerly clear) outer piece. Is yours one piece or three? john From: s227classassociation
