Re: Propellers for Yanmar 1GM10

I was out yesterday and did a full throttle run -- it revved to 3600 with no issues and GPS was showing between 6 and 6.5 (my onboard knotmeter doesn't work). No smoking problems. I think the 12 X 9 is fine, I don't know what the 13 X 9 advantage would be, unless it provided a little more thrust in reverse.

Mark,

We have a MaxProp folding 3 blade on our S2-27. 12x9.2 set at a 22 degree pitch if the documentation I have is still accurate. We have a 2GM20 in our boat not the 1GM10. I haven't checked the speed lately, but when I got the boat and took it up the Neuse River to get it hauled out I recall we were making ~6kts at ~3000 rpm according to the GPS. We'll have to get together to compare our two boats.

I am interested in what props you with Yanmars are using. I have always had
a 14x10 which it really too long as there is only about 1/4 inch between the
top of the prop and the hull. I can run about 6.5 Knots at 3400 RPM or
cruise at a little over 5 at just under 3000. Not sure I could do much
better but I am thinking about a 1000 mile river trip in a year or so.
