Re: Yahoo groups closed, anyplace besides groups.io

Well, Nova ()?is becoming increasing popular, at least among Star Trek games.

Players do have to post from the sim's?website (which would mean redoing your website) and I understand that it's?compatible with pretty much any webhost as long?as they have PHP and MySQL (though I've heard that some?hosts that cached data, so any time someone would update or publish a post, it wouldn¡¯t show up on the site for 10-20 minutes).

Aurora Lake, Texas - Modern Small-Town RPG

Deep in northeast Texas lies the town of Aurora Lake. Situated on the pristine shores of its namesake, its citizens live, work, and play, experiencing the joys, sorrows, excitement, and heartache universal to the human experience. The area has become a destination where people come from all over the country to relax and enjoy the natural beauty the area has to offer.?
?
Many people from all walks of life have come to call Aurora Lake home. People with their roots deeply entrenched in the area honor their past while building a new, modern future. Transplants from other locations come here for the natural beauty, the thriving economy, and the relatively affordable cost-of-living. There are opportunities galore here, as well as plenty of wide open spaces for those who want to find refuge from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is an eclectic place full of vibrant personalities, all blending together to give this small town a unique atmosphere full of hopes, possibilities, and dreams.?
?
Aurora Lake is a thriving small town, slice-of-life RPG set in modern day Texas. Our game has been going strong, uninterrupted, for 11 years now and many of our writers have been here from the very beginning. We value creativity, collaboration and the opportunity for each of us together to help build fun and exciting stories with unique characters. We welcome all characters, from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds. We are a fun, friendly group of writers who'll welcome you and help you get involved in any way we can.?
?
Aurora Lake is growing and changing with the times,?while keeping the traditions that have shaped the community. Currently on the game board, we've got two events that new players could jump into. There's a fundraiser event at a ranch with food, open bar and lots of mingling beneath the big sky and stars! We also have Aurora Lake's first ever Drag Queen Show Brunch at Molly's Irish Pub, an afternoon of brunch, booze and blasphemy, and a whole lot of fun! Take a walk on the shores of our lake, hit up one of our country & western bars, stop by the farmer's market on a leisurely Saturday morning to support our vibrant local agricultural community, go to the hometown football game underneath the Friday night lights, and shop at one of our small businesses along the way! Aurora Lake offers it all.
?
We try to do group events regularly and welcome ideas and suggestions planned by our writers. So come, join, and see if you'll be a good fit for our town!?
?
We do have a wiki, as well as a main group and an OOC group. We ask that you request permission to view our game site and board, which we do out of respect for player privacy.?

Re: Yahoo groups closed, anyplace besides groups.io

Groups.io is most Comparable to yahoo groups. The problem is that a lot of R-rated material is not allowed there, and a lot of people don¡¯t like being censored in that way. Google groups is pretty good in terms of what you¡¯re allowed to post, but it lacks a lot of the great features that groups.io has.

The Dusk Eaters [alt-history] [mutants] [LGBTQ+] [18+]

Edited

The Dusk Eaters is set in the U.S. during the Roaring Twenties, just a few short months before the stock market collapse that leads to the Great Depression. Our game follows a ragtag group of outsiders with special abilities known as Gifts, just trying to make a living the best they know how: By banding together to form the Midnight Circus. What began with the intention of providing safety in numbers for the assorted outcasts that make up the Circus has grown over the years into a clannish family who would do nearly anything to protect their own.

Because if the secret of the Circus ever gets out - if the townies ever learn that the tricks aren't all?fake, that the magic isn't all smoke and mirrors... They'll need each other more than ever.

---

The Dusk Eaters is an 18+ alternate history sci-fi game set in 1929. It's a little bit Carniv¨¤le, a little bit X-Men, and we heavily encourage leaning into all aspects of the jazz age - within reason - for influence and inspiration. This is a writing based, play-by-post roleplaying game done via Groups.io, using Discord for OOC communication.

If you've never written in a play-by-post game before, it's essentially turn-based collaborative storytelling. It's pretty quick to pick up, and we're happy to help with any questions, concerns, beta-reading, etc. The same goes for if you've never used Groups.io or Discord before!

Keynotes:

  • This is an adult game with adult themes. No players under 18 without exception.

  • This is an LGBTQ+ friendly, anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-bigot?game, again, without exception. Characters may have personal opinions that differ in game, but bigotry in players is unacceptable.

  • Joining this game is a commitment to being able to post at least once a week. Being unable to meet that commitment on occasion due to IRL reasons is understandable and something we will make room for if you reach out to us, but if you regularly find that you don't have even an hour a week to post every week, this game isn't for you.

  • Knowledge of the late 1920s/early 1930s in the U.S. isn't required to play in this game, but?interest?is. We don't keep strictly to the script on history here, but it should affect your character and not simply be a backdrop that could be easily exchanged for any other setting.

  • Original characters only. Getting inspired by other characters (either in-game or out) is fine, but your character must be uniquely yours.?

  • You must either have or be willing to use Discord and Groups.io.

If all of the above is good by you and the concept strikes your fancy, please check out our website and fill out the application form below.

Yup, with a little over 40 posts so far this month!

Two players have had a little extra time this month, for what that's worth, but yes, the game is still well active and consistent.

THE BROKEN WORLD

They were all caught by surprise. Every last person. It's one thing to envision the collapse of civilization, yet another to have it happen all around you. Everyone felt dread and fear at what was to come, even the dark cults and religious groups whose members had spent their entire lives readying themselves for the end that was to come; deep down, even they must not have been fully convinced, as every follower from every prior generation had prepared similarly, and it had never come then.

With the breaking came the return of the Dark Ones powerful beings of true magic, old magic who were coming out and showing what they knew. Over time they became so powerful that they branched out creating their own societies, their own clans and groups. Beings of supernatural origin, like the Vampires, and like Dragonkind, made their return to this world, no longer hampered by an irreverent world that had forsaken the Old Ways. As disease and plague depleted the population, more and more of the world that was once hidden is rising to the surface, and everyone is trying to survive, and the once spread-out masses are now starting to congregate en-masse to those areas with the greatest resources, and the largest amount of space.

Those who inhabit this world can no longer pretend that they have no control over their own fates, and many now long for what they once took for granted. As if making her voice heard, it seems Mother Nature has unlocked some cosmic mechanism and the end result is humans who are discovering that they possess some form of supernatural ability or another, as if the time has come again for mankind to evolve, in order to survive.

All of the lands of Arnaraen vie for Peace or Destruction and the weight of conflict comes crashing down like a tidal wave of blood and nightmares. As each of us will do what we can to survive; forge alliances, fight over resources, and find out things about ourselves we never could have imagined.

Welcome, one and all, as our paths converge, as worlds collide, and we find out what each of us are truly made of.

Re: An original Post-Apocalyptic RPG

I can vouch for this game. It might slow down on occasion due to real life kicking our butts but it's an amazing game, good storylines, and fun writers.? Good god..has it really been 15 years? I don't think I've been here this long but damn that's incredible!

We're always looking for new players. Come check it out!
