Thanks for the reply. I can manage three posts a week along those lines.
I didn't play AD&D when it came out - I haven't played that edition at all - but I have played other RPGS before (3.5 and Pathfinder years ago, as well as other RPGs). I like the old-school vibe.
Thanks again,
Matt

I realize this answer is going out to the whole group, but you had good questions that might help people decide. Once we get into specifics, I'll send to your email address and not the whole mailing list.
Commitment level is three posts per week. It can slow down to less if a player needs it, but most weeks we aim for three. Posts are often just a couple of sentences--our format is very intuitive and easy. (The format is: tell me what you're doing and what your character is saying--we're not picky about how you do that.)
Those not versed specifically in AD&D first edition will be fine--but I do like to have people who played the game when it came out, whenever possible, because the vibe of the game is an old-school vibe.

Hi, I'm interested in this, but I'd like to get some more information.
What's the commitment level needed (post once a week, twice a week, etc.?)
I'm not familiar with AD&D rules, so I would need some hand-holding, assuming that the game doesn't use a streamlined version of the rules?
Thanks,
Matt

I'm looking for one new player to join a play-by-email that has been going for a couple of years.
We're using AD&D first edition, with Unearthed Arcana and Oriental Adventures.
The campaign setting is a minimalist homebrew (meaning that the world's details have developed as necessary, but are pretty easy to sum up since there isn't a ton of lore for lore's sake). The campaign world feels like a cross between Greyhawk and an old version of Forgotten Realms.
