After finding the Klingon freighter crew conjoined with other creatures, forming a Klingon-Targ or Klingon-Sark blend, several exchange personnel have gone undercover into a Cardassian enclave where they hope to find the perpetrators, discover how the conjoinment was done and why?? On the ship, medical and science staff are trying to figure out how and why Borg nanobots have been reprogrammed to conjoin completely different species
