Locked 1953 BMW Wanted
Hi R90s Gang et al I just got back from following the Motorcycle Cannonball from Canada border to the Mexico border. I followed for about 10 of the 17 days. The first 3 on my 75 R90S then home (1400 miles). The last 7 on my 1990 K1 with Unigo trailer and home (3500 miles). All was fun with no problems. It was a bummer that we only had one BMW in the Cannonball this year and Joe Gimpel was doing great, until a leg/knee issue forced him to stop riding in Arkansas. Now I have the itch to participate in the 2022 Cross Country Chase which requires a pre-60 bike. Of course I want to do it on a Beemer and my preference is to find a 1953 (my birth year). I used to own a 1953 R51, but that was about 35 years ago. Would appreciate any help with my search. The bike doesn't need to be a beautiful restoration, but rather very good mechanical condition to complete the 2500 mile ride. Can be with or without sidecar. Thanks Bob Alexander

Anyone know of a source for longer than normal throttle cables? Such as would fit on an R90S fitted with tall bars? Thanks, Mac-- Mac Kirkpatrick Glenmoore, PA "After all, what is adventure, but inconvenience, properly regarded?" C. Donahue

Locked spiegler brake lines 4
hi folks, has anybody here ordered spiegler brake lines for the 90s? their standard setup for r90s is set up with a 510 fitting and a 710 fitting. when i looked at the custom kit, it seemed that the 511 male fitting was a little longer and that the 711 fitting had a groove for the grommet at the caliper side. any advice would be very helpful. thanks, neil

Locked R90s bars 9
My bike came with a different bar than the R90S. The previous owner had installed a handlebar mounted master cylinder on a set of R100 bars on it from the early 1980's which were higher because of back problems. I am trying to find a R90s type bar that will work with the existing master cylinder mounted on the bars and not interfere with the R90s fairing. I know this is not original but anybody got a idea what might fit without interfering with the stock R90s 1/4 fairing?

Locked Battery options R90S 16
Hi All, I¡¯ve replaced a few batteries on my R100RS (Mono) but never on my (semi new to me) 75 R90S. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good sealed brand to choose for the R90? Same size of course to fit in the tray. I¡¯ve had decent experience with Odyssey and Westco. Thanks! Chris Perry

Locked Fairing installation, turn signal stalk bits 7
I¡¯m confused by the parts that go on the turn signal stalks. Specifically the ¡°cap¡± part#9 on the fiche that has a U-shaped opening. The rubber ring (washer) part#7 that mates with the eccentric rubber bushing part# 8 should go up against this cap inboard of the fairing shell. However I see no mechanism to retain the cap and prevent it¡¯s falling off the turn signal stalk. The fairing mounting instructions do not address this issue. Friction between the outer edge of the rubber ring/washer and the inner lip of the cap won't work since the ID of the cap lip is slightly greater than the OD of the rubber ring. Perhaps the rubber ring has shrunk with age? I¡¯ve ordered new ones just in case. I suppose I could glue the rubber ring/washer to the cap¡even though the mounting instructions do not say to do this.

Locked How much variation is there in factory original paint jobs? 7
Since the frosting or fogging of the second color on the R90S is not an exact robot delivered paint job, I was wondering how much variation have we seen on original bikes? I have three fairings in my possession and it's clear the S. Meyer one is a closer match to my original. Do any of you have fairings that look more like Vendor A's?

Locked riding 13
I grew up on a horse farm. Riding this "new" R90S is a lot like riding a new horse - both of us feeling each other out. I get the distinctive feeling when I start it up, that something really great, or really bad, is going to happen :-)

Locked clutch -> "easy brake" 2
Better front brake with STOCK look: https://www.r90s.info/Articles/upgrade_brakes.html TL;DR: 14mm master cyl from R90/6, with second hole drilled, and 40mm ATE calipers from 1978 Airhead, painted black. Braided brake hoses don't hurt, either. Bill Dudley NJ Airmarshal
