Locked Reducing the R90S's weight

I recently learned that an EME replacement?starter is 6 lbs lighter than the original so?that's something you could swap out to save 6 lbs.? It's also a mass savings that's up high on the bike so it would move the center of mass lower to the ground (i.e. feel less "top heavy", relative to the stock starter).? Would there be a noticeable difference? You're guess is as good as mine!? Hope this helps.

The newest LI battery offering from EME is fantastic. In a test it started an R80 engine no problem, at 24 degrees F.

Thanks Everyone. I'm doing all the muscle building I can because I really don't want to give up the bike but it is slow going. I'll keep at it.

Meanwhile, anyone has any suggestions for a lighter battery, lithium ion maybe? And I'll keep it at 1/2 tank gas if not going on long rides.

Given that I'm 'only' 65, I'll be suitably humbled and quit whining and do all that I can to keep riding my R90S. I appreciate all the input and may reach out to some of you for more information, if that's ok.

Much obliged.

This topic has particular interest for me as I m faced with the same problem for different reasons. I needed to reduce the weight on the R90S I recently bought and I cannot afford to lose any more body weight (6' 2" at 156 pounds). I did not want to lose the convenience of the center stand or the stock exhaust system so I switched out the lead acid battery first and it saved over 15 # on the R90S. I am also switching the stock wheel rims over to aluminum. A EME starter will knock off another 5 pounds or so. Of course these are expensive ways to shed bike weight but I was already into needing them why not use the lighter components.?

No more old man jokes here, I had my 79th birthday in early March.??
