Congratulations! That is a special find. Up until COVID, I had lunch with John several times a year and rode my R90S to the restaurant.? He always had good stories about his R90S, other airheads, and Alps trips. 开云体育Harold ? Say hello to John next time you see him. After the Beach trip I took my S across Canada and down the west coast to San Diego.? I stayed with him ?a couple of nights and also another chap who was on the trip who also lived in San Diego. This other chap (since passed) was a boiler repair guy servicing the fleet who hailed originally from England. I also have John’s book on touring Europe. A true touring specialist. ? Ted ? Hello Ted (et al) Thanks for the pictures and history of your R90S purchase. They must be great memories, certainly. I'm not sure, but maybe it's because the images are reversed; which of the three people in the pictures is John Herman? I knew him when I lived in San Diego during the 80's and we were board members of the San Diego BMW club. Does anyone know what may have happened to him? He was certainly one of the kindest and most passionate motorcyclists I ever had the honor to call a friend. Be safe, be well. Roger, John is alive and still living in Coronado, California.? He celebrated his 90th birthday last year, and although the COVID restrictions limited his exposure to his friends, he still had a memorable birthday with remote visits, gifts delivered to his door, a zoom call with family and friends, and the fire department walked across the street, from the station to his flat, and sang "Happy Birthday" as he stood on his balcony.? John is still as warm and gracious as ever.? Until COVID broke out last year, a bunch of us long-time members of the BMW Owners Club San Diego met at a brewery for lunch once a month and John attended every one of those lunches.? Three years ago, the San Diego Meals on Wheels had a big event to celebrate the 40 years that John has served on their Board of Directors.? John took his last motorcycle journey in the Alps just a few years ago in his late 80's.? His home is filled with music, photographs of friends, motorcycles, places he has visited on BMW motorcycles, and his grand piano. Up until several years ago, John still rode with elan and no one was smoother slicing through the curves.?
