He celebrated his 90th birthday last year, and although the COVID restrictions limited his exposure to his friends, he still had a memorable birthday with remote visits, gifts delivered to his door, a zoom call with family and friends, and the fire department walked across the street, from the station to his flat, and sang "Happy Birthday" as he stood on his balcony.? ? John is still as warm and gracious as ever.? Until COVID broke out last year, a bunch of us long-time members of the BMW Owners Club San Diego met at a brewery for lunch once a month and John attended every one of those lunches.? Three years ago, the San Diego Meals on Wheels had a big event to celebrate the 40 years that John has served on their Board of Directors.? John took his last motorcycle journey in the Alps just a few years ago in his late 80's.? His home is filled with music, photographs of friends, motorcycles, places he has visited on BMW motorcycles, and his grand piano. Up until several years ago, John still rode with elan and no one was smoother slicing through the curves.? ? Harold Dorr ?
