Locked back brakes
开云体育…..and then you need to figure out where the oil or grease is coming from or you are just throwing away money on new shoes.richard Chawes

开云体育?First, you said “must have gotten grease on them or something”, That leads to a whole lot of speculation, Do you see oil or grease elsewhere? It never just goes to the lining and no where else. Sometimes old brake shoes get burnished and need to roughened up. This was typical for these bikes. The test for oil soaked brake shoes is to observe the color and then clean them. After, take something sharp and scratch the surface. If in a little while the darker color appears in the scratch then, yes oil soaked it is, and replace them.

Doug, Once brake shoes have been fouled by grease or oil you should replace them.? Ted

Greetings This year when I got? my `74 R90S? out I noticed the back brakes were weak. Took the rear wheel off and cleaned the brake shoes . Still no better. Adjusted properly. What`s good for cleaning the shoes? Must have gotten some grease on them or something.? Don`t want to ruin the shoes Any ideas? Thanks? Doug |
