Once brake shoes have been fouled by grease or oil you should replace them.?

This year when I got? my `74 R90S? out I noticed the back brakes were weak.
Took the rear wheel off and cleaned the brake shoes . Still no better. Adjusted properly. What`s good for cleaning the shoes? Must have gotten some grease on them or something.? Don`t want to ruin the shoes
