Re: Turn signal stalks....again
Ken, Did some checking on the Maxbmw?website and found the following: The plastic turn signal housings are all identical over a wide range of models. The turn signal stalks are different between the R90S and the R90/6 and have different part numbers and are identified as a "shorter" item. Based upon the pictures, it doesn't appear that you can achieve a 1-5/8 inch tube length?on the R90/6 items although I can't be certain of this. The R100S uses?the same items as the R90S, which I suspected. Hopefully this helps. Re: Turn signal stalks....again
Steve,
Thanks very much for the information. I'm left trying to figure out how to get my turn signals to fit on the 1 5/8" stalk. I can't get the signal pod pushed on far enough for the clamp to grip properly. The only thing I could do is to remove the chrome trim ring that butts up against the eccentric rubber bushing on the outside of the fairing and then maybe the pod would grip properly. Does anyone know what the notches are for? Is there any chance the plastic turn signal pods are different on the R90 and R90S? Ken Eastern Ontario |

Matching old black paint is tough because the old paint is oxidized. -- I canna'change the Law of Physics-Scotty Richard H. Kuschel |

'74 Frame touch up paint recommendation?
I have a '74 with some nicks and areas where the paint rubbed off.? I've tried two paints already and one was much too glossy (VHT Epoxy gloss black) , the other was a shade off, and still a bit too glossy (A Ford semi-gloss black).??
Has anybody found a good rattle can paint to match the '74 era frame/subframe/swingarm parts?? |

Re: Turn signal stalks....again
Ken, As luck would have it I'm working on the bike and have access?to the turn signal stalks. The tubular portion measures 1-5/8 inches in length and has the notches on the end. Hope this helps. I've got a machine shop so I can neatly modify the existing R90 stalks to the correct length R90S stalks. The question is: what is the length of the "tubular" part of the stalk for an R90S? My rough estimate is about 55mm or just over 2 1/8". |

Re: 74 R90s with 14mm Front Axle - Wheel bearing spacers?
I got the link.? Thanks.? And I read Duane's page 100 times but somehow missed the part on the 14mm R90s axle until just now (probably because it never applied to me until now).?
Turns out the previous owner installed the 14mm sleeves into the snowflake wheel, however there was a gap, no spacer between the two sleeves.? So all I need is that inner space.? I think I can take it from here.?? |
