Of course we all know that Reg won the Super Bike Championship in 1976 on a Daytona R90S prepared by Race Team Leader Udo Gietl and machinist fabricator Todd Schuster....sadly Schuster is no longer with us.

Both Gietl, Schuster, Hans A. Muth, Gary Fisher and Tom Cutter were with us here in 2014 while celebrating the 40th anniversary of the legendary R90S.

Gietl & Cutter have returned with Hans A. Muth among other prominent guests on three separate anniversary occasions.

I've been working with designer Han A. Muth, Gietl, Cutter & George "Schorsch " Martin along with other guests possibly riding enthusiasts and notable author Peter Egan for a very special gala 100th Anniversary BMW Motorrad event to be held at my residence here in Harleysville, PA. I'm aiming for mid to? late September 2023.

Stay tuned as this progresses. Many more details on this later. Hope to see many of you join us for this event.

Locked Re: Turn signal stalks....again

Ken,
Did some checking on the Maxbmw?website and found the following:
The plastic turn signal housings are all identical over a wide range of models.
The turn signal stalks are different between the R90S and the R90/6 and have different part numbers and are identified as a "shorter" item. Based upon the pictures, it doesn't appear that you can achieve a 1-5/8 inch tube length?on the R90/6 items although I can't be certain of this. The R100S uses?the same items as the R90S, which I suspected.
Hopefully this helps.
Regards,
Steve Dudka

Steve,
Thanks very much for the information. I'm left trying to figure out how to get my turn signals to fit on the 1 5/8" stalk. I can't get the signal pod pushed on far enough for the clamp to grip properly. The only thing I could do is to remove the chrome trim ring that butts up against the eccentric rubber bushing on the outside of the fairing and then maybe the pod would grip properly.

Does anyone know what the notches are for?

Is there any chance the plastic turn signal pods are different on the R90 and R90S?

Concur, used that after grinding the rust down (and priming first) the top tube that holds the master ATE cylinder.?

Matching old black paint is tough because the old paint is oxidized.

Locked '74 Frame touch up paint recommendation?

I have a '74 with some nicks and areas where the paint rubbed off.? I've tried two paints already and one was much too glossy (VHT Epoxy gloss black) , the other was a shade off, and still a bit too glossy (A Ford semi-gloss black).??

Has anybody found a good rattle can paint to match the '74 era frame/subframe/swingarm parts??

Ken,
As luck would have it I'm working on the bike and have access?to the turn signal stalks. The tubular portion measures 1-5/8 inches in length and has the notches on the end.
Hope this helps.

I've got a machine shop so I can neatly modify the existing R90 stalks to the correct length R90S stalks. The question is: what is the length of the "tubular" part of the stalk for an R90S? My rough estimate is about 55mm or just over 2 1/8".

Edited

I got the link.? Thanks.? And I read Duane's page 100 times but somehow missed the part on the 14mm R90s axle until just now (probably because it never applied to me until now).?

Turns out the previous owner installed the 14mm sleeves into the snowflake wheel, however there was a gap, no spacer between the two sleeves.? So all I need is that inner space.? I think I can take it from here.??
