I have a 74 R90s that I'm putting back together and it had snowflake wheels on it (don't ask, previous owner did it). I have a '74 spoke front wheel/hub to put on the bike but it does not have bearings or internals.
The front axle is the smaller 14mm style.?
According to Max Fiche, there appear to be two spacers that go in from each side and a center shim. This is different than a R100S with a 17mm axle that has one long pipe in the middle and a shim on one end.??
Does anybody have these spacers?? Max wants $45 each for them.?
Is there any trick to preloading the bearing stack with the center shim?? I'm considering buying one of the larger spacers and putting it on the lathe until the correct preload is met.? Is that the right approach??
Any other advice or tips would be appreciated.?
