Locked Fairing installation, turn signal stalk bits

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI¡¯m confused by the parts that go on the turn signal stalks. Specifically the ¡°cap¡± part#9 on the fiche that has a U-shaped opening. The rubber ring (washer) part#7 that mates with the eccentric rubber bushing part# 8 should go up against this cap inboard of the fairing shell. However I see no mechanism to retain the cap and prevent it¡¯s falling off the turn signal stalk. The fairing mounting instructions do not address this issue.Friction between the outer edge of the rubber ring/washer and the inner lip of the cap won't work since the ID of the cap lip is slightly greater than the OD of the rubber ring. Perhaps the rubber ring has shrunk with age? I¡¯ve ordered new ones just in case. I suppose I could glue the rubber ring/washer to the cap¡even though the mounting instructions do not say to do this. |
