Re: OWC location is offset when exact is specified.

When OWC is linked from the Occultation Portal (LuckySar, ACROSS) , my telescope positions are offset.

This will effect mobile location planning when the observer grid is not shown accurately.

Can this be improved, or is there a way round that i don't know off?

Cheers,? ? Tim Haymes

Chris, I dont see a FEED for it.? As a suggestion, is it activated with Observation Campaigns (global)?
There are two Across targets in my list, both Didymos.

Just a thought..

OWC location is offset when exact is specified.

Hi Hristo,

I notice my exact locations displayed in OW are offset in OWC,? When i add a new location in OWC and specify exact, then the station continues to be offset on OWC. (but correct in OW).

Is there a away of getting OWC to display the exact station locations ?? This would be helpful for mobile observers setting up a fence (say).? ? ?A mobile phone would show the actual locations.?

An idea:? ?I note that the locations are offset when not logged in.? Perhaps the exact locations could be displayed using a login as a switch that authenticates the observer.? That would preserve the location anonymity when a login is not supplied. (if that makes sense).

Thanks

Tim

Re: Rank selection in Configuration doesn't work as expected

History, 75 is fine, I was more concerned that there might be a bug.

Vince?

Re: Rank selection in Configuration doesn't work as expected

Hi Vince,

There is an upper limit to rank which is 75.

In my opinion for events with that high rank, this parameter should not really be used to filter out events as not being worth considering. May be you think otherwise?

Hristo.

Re: [OWCloud] OccultWatcher 5.1 Beta Testing

Hi Steve,

My bad, I intended the discussion to happen on the OWC group, not the OccultWatcher group.

I think I understand your request to be able to save and apply saved filters. I'll definitely have to change the way users subscribe to feeds, which will also mean the way events are filtered locally. I can see what I do.

In the mean time I am using this ticket on GitHub to capture the new ideas for how feed subscription might work:

Let me know if you have any feedback on that.

Hristo.

Here is a suggestion for OW Desktop:

It would be helpful to have a bit more flexibility in the configuration of event filters.? Sometimes I would like to see lots of events and other times I would like to see only a few events.? And my guidelines may change based on the location.? Currently, OW allows us to set different filters for different “feeds”/”tags”.? However, I usually want to apply the same filter to all tags.? If possible, could we have the option to setup and save filter “configurations” which could be applied based on both tags and sites?? In other words, I could save one filter “configuration” as “nearby” and another filter configuration as “all events”.? Then I could assign a default filter configuration a particular site (and or tag).

?

Hopefully this makes sense.

?

Thanks

Steve

Re: Windows 11 ? solved

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for sharing this. Are you able to tell us more where you edited those registry permissions? May be helpful for someone else in the future.

Fixed.? wow what drain on the brain.

I installed Occultwatcher on another system with a fresh install of Windows 11 and it does seen to load and run fine.

I must have a software conflict is my guess now.

Thanks

Re: Windows 11 ?

Hi Jeff,

I can't think of a reason why OW Desktop would not start on Windows 11 but I have never tried to run it on Win 11.

Are you able to share the files under ErrorReport directory as per the error message.

Please note that you should not put OW under Program Files directory as it requires admin access. The typical installation location of OW Desktop should be C:\OccultWatcher

Unless I’m misunderstanding, just go to “Configuration>General>Events listing>Choose Columns” and check the box for “Max Duration.”? You can then sort by Max Duration by clicking on the heading in your list.

Request for feature...

I would like to see the Configuration/Event filters dialog modified to include "Duration" as a filter option.?
This would be useful for selecting events that require integration. Combined with the magnitude field, it makes it easier to determine if an event is observable.?

Re: Two windows 10 machines functioning differently

Hi Ted,

Why do you think they should show the same event in both setups? The settings of the two deployments are likely different.

In 99% of the cases of this issue being reported the problem would be explained by either the different settings or the different site coordiantes i.e. one of the events is not shown on one of the set ups because it does not pass the filter criteria on that installation for that configured site location.

Also your screenshots are too small to be able to see any additional information about the event.

Hristo.
