Re: "Calibration was not succesful"
Hi, ? I would be surprised if you really have NTSC version camera. What I had in mind is a problem, which can be introduced by the USB A/D converter. ? Example : I had a PAL camera, however my A/D converter on first capture insisted that it has on input NTSC signal (not PAL) and the output was always flawed by having NTSC framerate (and sometimes wrong videi linear dimensions). I had to force some capture settings (I was using VirtualDub) to convince the grabber it has an PAL input. Thenafter everything was OK. ? I think if on input is indeed PAL signal with 25fps, but grabber signals it is NTSC with 29.97fps, you can't get correct calibration. ? Check and experiment. ? jan ? ______________________________________________________________ I bought the camera from a UK dealer and wasn't aware of the NTSC fact until later.
Thank you Jan! ? Joan ?

Re: "Calibration was not succesful"
Hi, are you sure you have an NTSC camera ? I would asume as an European user you have a PAL version from some info off the screenshots. So the problem may be with the USB grabber settings. jan? ______________________________________________________________ I receive the message "calibration was not succesful" using occuRec v3.3 BETA software and I wonder how reliable is the video recording time of that conditions and how shall I fix it? 开云体育Occult has an option to do exactly this. But the list is long. The dates of
possible lunar occs of Venus, from 1950 – 2030 follows. The n & s indicate
whether the event is mainly in the northern or southern hemispheres. You can
also plot the occultation region.

Subject: [OccultWatcher] Moon-Venus Occultations ?
Is
someone able to generate a historical record of all lunar occultations of Venus
for a specific date range? I do not have the program, looking for assistance
with this request. Date range 10 bc to 2030. |

Request for feature change
I have MANY sites I have researched in my local area that I've added as preferred sites .?
I have enough so that they all don't fit on the screen when I open the drop down box to select one. I would like to see the list sorted in alphabetical order to make it easier to find and select a location. Vince |
Re: [Planoccult] Re: [IOTAoccultations] Ephemeris error in OW for C/2021 P4 (Atlas)
Hi Carlos, I made a change so these events will be no longer sent to OW Desktop. However because OW Desktop keeps a local database after sync, people who already have them will continue to have them and the OW won't stop them from announcing a station for those events either. Hristo.

Hi,
As I explained in the attached message sent February, 19th to this mailing list, I cannot do anything with this issue. At the moment this comet is the only one with this problem. When I used the orbital elements from MPC the problem is not present. If I try to use the orbital elements from JPL/Horizons then the issue arise. I will release a new set of events for CometOcc, all with JPL orbital elements but C/2021 P4. I will use MPC orbital elements for it. But this is a workaround, we need the help of Dave and Hristo in order to solve it. Hristo P., is it possible to delete the events of this comet? Dave H., could you check what could be the root cause of this issue? The main difference I can see between both orbital elements is in the Mean Anomaly parameter. Re: [IOTAoccultations] Ephemeris error in OW for C/2021 P4 (Atlas)
开云体育Hi,As I explained in the attached message sent February, 19th to this mailing list, I cannot do anything with this issue. Alternate solution for the loss of Google Maps in OW...
With the news that Google Maps won't be available in OW after August 2022, and that OWC will not have support for "Preferred Sites", I felt I was losing one of the best features that I use in OW. Being able to display a map and chose an observing site was very useful in planning an observation.
Even though OW won't be able to display Preferred Sites, they still are needed (in some cases) to tie an observing site to an event. I found a work around. The work around depends on OW continuing to create/save a Google Earth kml file so I hope that feature remains. Google Earth uses the kml file to display an event map from OW just fine, what is missing are the location of the Preferred Sites. Luckily, Google Earth has the ability to provide a pinning feature similar to the Preferred Sites on OW. The Google Earth feature is called Placemarks.? The Placemarks feature allows you to create "pinned" locations that are visible on the map overlay. There doesn't seem to be a limit as to how many you can have. You will need to manually create a Placemark in Google Earth for every Preferred Site you've created in OW but at least it provides a way to view the path map and decide which of your Preferred Sites you may want to use. Also, don't get rid of your Preferred Sites in OW since you will need them to select the site as location of your observation for a specific event, as mentioned before. Also, if you create a new Placemark in Google Earth, you'll want to also add it in OW. Not a perfect solution, but it working for me. Vince |
Ephemeris error in OW for C/2021 P4 (Atlas)
开云体育All: ? I don’t recall seeing anything about this, but looking at an event in OW for C/2021 P4 (Atlas) on 04 March 2022, there appears to be an error in the orbital elements for this comet.? What caught my eye first was that the comet’s magnitude in OW is listed as 4.8, but digging a bit more revealed that the orbit semi-major axis listed in OW is 1.08045 AU, which would give the comet an orbital period of just over one year.? Checking against the published orbital elements, it looks like the perihelion distance was inadvertently used for the semi-major axis value.? (Also, OW has the comet’s mean anomaly listed as “0.”)? The effect of all this is that OW thinks the comet’s going to be occulting a star in Virgo on 04 March, when it will actually be in the vicinity of the Cassiopeia/Andromeda border. ? So, hopefully Carlos Perelló (who maintains the COMETOCC feed) is on this listserve, and can take a look at this error. ? Re: [Planoccult] Action Required - approaching Google Maps end of life (for OccultWatcher)
Hi Tony, I will try to make this web page easily accesible from OW Desktop but I cannot promise that it will be just a simple link i.e. may require a couple of clicks and/or entering your username/password on the OWC web site. Hristo.
