Yes, I restarted (full exit and restart) OW after the upgrade.
My account is an admin account, always has been.
There are a couple of other ghost events in the same situation for me, another one (I think) is?(33668)1999JO97.? I'm also getting emails about this one regarding Tony's change of sites, which I would not get if I wasn't signed up for it.

Just checking, did you restart OW immediately after the update has finished as per my email and are you logging in in Windows with a non-admin account?
I'll check tonight the status of that event and if the emails are sent because the server knows abiut the 'ghost' event but you cannot see it.

Yesterday I signed up for an event for Helwerthia?here in the Phoenix area.? It was visible in "My Events" at the top of the screen, as usual.
After updating to OW 5.0 today, that event (Helwerthia) is no longer visible in "My Events", however I am still getting emails from OW regarding others who signed up for it who add or cancel their sites.? So OW still thinks I am signed up for it, even though it is not being displayed.
I have stopped and restarted?OW, and purged my database.? Still no sign of the ghost event.
