Hi Tim

>>To follow up on this, the xml provides the asteroid number and name (and orbit).? Does your tool calculate the mid time for the user which?is also needed in the file upload to SODIS.

Yes, exactly. This is the same as other tools such as Occult would also do, when the XML file is imported there.
I just created a testfile from OWC and imported that into Occult (Asteroid predictions > List & Display > Open...):

>>I can see this idea could be elaborated to provide non dvti-cam users a means to fill the OW template, but would require another tool to merge the fields in two text files. You can also use the DVTI Cam Tool for this purpose, if you don't have such a camera. The tool is freely available. Just open it, go to the calendar, import an XML file and download the report (as if you have already observed the event). A lot of user specific fields are then missing, but basically the report is filled in with all the event data and can be uploaded into SODIS. You then need just to update all the other fields on the SODIS screen manually. Here how that looks with my testfile for an event of this evening:

which will create the prefilled SODIS report...

Eventually you can also define first you personal settings under "Edit" so, that this will also be included in the report automatically. You just need to add the relevant entries than under "More" from the pulldown menu before creating the final report:

I think that all should work, even if you don't have a DVTI Cam. But I have not fully tested that until the end ;-)

Yes, me too ;-)

Stefan

Hi Stefan - no im not a DVTI user, but we now have a user in the UK ;-)

I can see this idea could be elaborated to provide non dvti-cam users a means to fill the OW template, but would require another tool to merge the fields in two text files. It would be nicer if OWC could copy sites to OWD after the event.? This doent seem to happen.
